3  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 35 ENTRIES / CRAFT MY RESOLUTION & MY BFF'S TOO... on: February 06, 2009 12:41:54 AM
OK this entry comes with some explaining...

So...since Jan. 1 ...
1) I learned to crochet
2) I go walking with my BFF 3-4 times per week
3) I crocheted this bag to hold her water bottle in while she walks/exercises.
4) Attached to the bag is a keychain in her favorite color that holds her chapstick, but can double as a pill/vitamin bottle holder....(although it has been mistaken for a feminine hygiene thingy)
5) And...my favorite...a crocheted fat-free ice cream cone as inspiration that we CAN enjoy sweets without the added calories!!! (which gives us a good laugh!)

Well on our way, wouldn't you say...hope you like...

and now I am "hooked"! (get it. Grin)

Anyway, much to learn...but I am pretty proud of this beanie.
Being that I only learned to crochet 2 weeks ago!

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Pink Nostalgia Butterfly Room on: March 17, 2008 05:30:24 PM
When my daughter got her own room at 6 years old,
I simply could not part with some of her baby clothes
but did not want to just stuff them in storage.
So I decided to personalize her space into her very own butterly garden.

Her pinned up baby dresses became the valance.
Leftover eyelet lace material embellished with silk flowers & ribbons
became her curtains...add a little paint and voila!
She's enjoyed this space for the past 6 years,
and we are now collaborating on a much needed "UPGRADE".
Paying homage to days gone by...
and her many inspired craft projects over the years!!!

**excuse the blurriness. Old camera. But I think you get the gist.

You can't tell in the photos, but there are over 70 butterflies
painted across her walls and ceiling so she could view them
first thing in the morning.  And ladybugs trail along the windowsill.

Even brother would crawl in to play!

You like?!  We'll post the upgrade one of these days too.
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Twisty Bead Bracelet on: February 09, 2008 01:06:25 PM
My first post:  A simple thing that I made while trying to recon an old sweater. I find that I often begin a project intending to "create" one thing, and almost always find myself creating "something else." how about you?
ignore time/date stamp...still learning to use my new camera settings...

bracelet is double twist beads on wire

flower twist is pinned to sweater
10  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Rubber Ducky Soap Favors on: January 03, 2008 04:31:21 PM
Hi, there~
I just found this website as I was looking for inspiration online.  after checking out some of your soaps, I was reminded of a "rubber ducky" themed birthday party that I did when my son turned 1.  Just thought I'd share.

At the time, I was operating on a strict "diaper/baby food strickened" budget so I needed to be frugal in my craft.  As favors, I mass produced blue water blocks of soap by using ice trays as my mold, and embedded just the bottoms of little mini duck erasers into the soap.  Perfect treat for kids. These were individually packaged in a clear mini zipper lock bag with blue paper toppers that had a thank you message from my son.  These were such a hit, especially when people realized we made each one by hand.

Then we created larger round soaps with the same lemon scent & blue dye that were individually wrapped/sealed.  These were coupled with a rubber ducky toy set, blue washcloth, some bubbles, kids shampoo and other goodies for kids and presented in a white tin pail that was personally decorated with paint pens.  The pails served as center pieces with a few yellow, white & blue balloons tied to them and given out to family members at the end of the party.

We carried out the theme beginning with the invitations and included the unique guest book, games, and make&take crafts created at the party.  Will share more another time. Apologies for the length...but thanks for inspiring me again!
