1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Puff, the Dragon with Unusually Large Feet on: January 06, 2011 05:01:59 PM

My oldest niece loves Puff the Magic Dragon, and wore a dragon costume for about 2 months straight, so I decided to knit her a dragon for her 3rd birthday. I got the patter from Knitty (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTnorberta.html). I didn't make any real changes, except I used basic cotton yarn, so it could be washed, and didn't use two strands held together (I would actually do this if I were making it again, because I think it would look a lot better). I left off a lot of the details (i.e. googly eyes) because I didn't want her or my other niece choking on a button or something.

This is the first thing I've knitted that wasn't a basic garter stitch scarf or something, so it's certainly not perfect (see his ridiculously disproportionate legs), but I think it turned out really well in the end.

Here you can see the wings a little better.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Honest Abe Cross Stitch on: January 06, 2011 04:39:13 PM

I have been working on this tiny Abe Lincoln on and off (mostly off) for like a year and a half, and now he's finally finished! I made the pattern in Photoshop, which I was pretty proud of. Hope you like him!
3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / [RESOLVED] Boards Reorganized? on: March 16, 2010 07:26:58 PM
Since the servers being down earlier today (3/16) some of the boards seem to be in a different order. For example, under Misc. Topics, Completed Projects is like the 3rd one down instead of 1st, with Vintage Craft Projects at the top. Is this on purpose or just something wacky?

6  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Does anyone else have a problem with Wists? on: January 18, 2010 07:49:38 PM
I'm not sure if this should go somewhere else, but this seemed the most logical place to me. If I need to move it let me know.

Every time I go on the Wists website my AVG Antivirus pops up and tells me it has detected a threat, and the Wist site gets redirected to a (AVG blocked) page. It's only when i try to look at people's wist, not when I add, but it concerns me, as I've had to deal with computer viruses before and it sucked.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Details of swap:

Welcome to the Givers and Needers swap!

Givers: If you have an overabundance of craft supplies, this is your role. You send a box (doesn't matter how big or how small; it's totally up to you) to a Needer and receive a smallthank-you gift for all your generosity. You need to get a DC# for your package.

Needers: If you have a need for craft supplies, this is your role. You will receive a box from a Giver with things you asked for in your questionnaire, and once you have received it you will send a small thank-you gift to the Giver.   You also need a DC# for this gift.

This is a great way to de-stash and help a fellow crafter out who may for various reasons need some supply help.

As of now the swap is limited to 24 swappers. If you are interested in co-organizing, please let me know and we can expand the number if needed.

If you would like to be both a Giver and a Needer (say you have an excess of fabric to help a beginning sewer, but just started knitting and need yarn), that is allowed. You will still need to send a small thank-you to your Giver.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer: Please put "Givers and Needers" in the title of all PMs.

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Another Round of Givers and Needers Swap? on: January 07, 2010 05:12:18 PM
Is anyone interested in another round of Givers and Needers?

For those of you who haven't seen it before, the swap has a group of well-stashed crafters (Givers) and a group of swappers low of stash, or just starting out with a certain craft (Needers). The Givers send to the Needers, and the Needers send back a small crafted thank-you present.

Here is the link to the last round I could find:
and Gallery:

I have been in a previous round as a Needer, and would love to be a Giver this time. I'm willing to organize as well, if people are interested.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Can't we all just get along? on: November 20, 2009 08:35:35 AM
So maybe it's just me, but I've felt like people are being much less friendly on the swap boards lately. I haven't had anyone be mean to me directly, but I've noticed a general increase in snark. Maybe it's holiday stress or even me being more sensitive, but it makes me a little sad. We're all here to craft and share our crafts, right?
10  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Tie Dying Over a Screenprint? on: June 03, 2009 12:22:57 PM
Hello lovely helpful Craftsters!

I've searched all over the internet for this, but couldn't find it, so maybe you can help.

I am planning an event at my school and we want to have a tie dye area with shirts for the event. We came up with the idea of making white shirts with a white screen print. But we aren't sure if dye will stick to the screen print or not. Does anyone happen to know?

Thanks so much in advance!
