1  Grecian Fashion Show in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Auska Nova on: November 07, 2010 09:12:14 AM
So at my school we have something called senior project that is required for us to graduate. We can choose any topic that we want to we just have to be able to prove something with it.

As my topic I chose fashion design, and I proved in my research paper that all lower forms of fashion are determined by the high ones, in a trickle down effect. This point was made in the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" as well.

For my product I put together a fashion show and a photo shoot. Originally my show was going to be more Steampunk but then I found that I didn't really enjoy what I was doing, as much as I love the Steampunk style. So I switched to a more Grecian theme after finding the most amazing fabric for it.

I will post the photo shoot picture when I get them back but until then here are the picture that my friend took from the audience.

I will post more pictures as soon as i get them C:

5  The epic 4lbs ruffle skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Auska Nova on: May 19, 2009 04:26:34 AM
In this corner weighing in at 4lbs the epic ruffle skirt!

So it's been awhile since I've posted anything, honestly because I haven't been doing anything.

So anyways, there's a convention coming up this weekend that I'm going to, needless to say I wanted to make something to wear even if it wasn't an actual character costume or not.

The skirt itself weighs four pounds and may have close to ten different fabrics/lace on it. I was trying to maintain a slightly steampunky feel to it (because The Outlanders steampunk group is doing two panels at the con), though I may have missed that ship compeletly I really like the outcome so far. It's not completely finished and I will get better pictures rather than this crappy webcam one.

It is made simply by hemming strips on the sewing machine then gathering them and sewing them onto a skirt base, made out of a sheet. It's not very hard to do just rather time consuming. Also I learned that  you start at the bottom and work your way up and it is way easier.

All the Fabric were recycled from buys at Goodwill, or things I already had.

Here's how it breaks down:

1 dress
1 pair of pants
2 shirts (one long sleeve one sleeveless)
2 cotton fabric placemats
6 different types of lace
1 sheet (for the base of it)
and some scrap satin.

I wish I could figure out how I made it D: . It was a fluke you see. But if anyone else can figure it out please tell me XD.

I wanna make more but it's kinda hard when you don't know how you made the first one.

7  Buttons+wire=flower rings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Auska Nova on: June 11, 2008 12:50:48 PM
Alright so we had to make wire sculptures in art class and I didn't want to do a person or anything and I had no idea what to do, but then luckily the guy next ( who would always go "you're so fierce, and fabulous." because he watched PR too XD, but he was straight so it was extra funny) to me made a ball of wire and I was inspired.

We were given this green thin garden wire (I think) to make mini sample or what our big one would be.

Then lo-and-behold he had this bg bag of buttons and since I discovered them I got first pick...(I took alot to make more of these, but he didn't mind) and he gave us thicking wire for this part too soooo....this is what I made.

So I have alot of left over buttons and wire from this. I made a 98 on the project too, I made them alittle stand and wrapped it in green Raffia(sp?), that smelt awesome to me (like barbecue), so it looked like a green flower stem, and I made a leave off the side. Anyways I had to take it apart though to get the rings back off though i might make them a better stand.

I'm slightly considering making these to sell, dependant on intrest levels.
