Nice job!  Have you tried using freezer paper?  It's great because, you can iron it down, but comes off very easy!
2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: My first amigurumi project: The Big Bang Theory on: October 04, 2009 07:39:25 AM
OMFG, those are too cute!  I LOVE the Big Bang Theory.

Do you have a Twitter account?  Billy Prady (one of the creators) often responds to tweets, as do the fictitious character accounts run by the writers.  If you sent one of them a tweet with a link to the pic I'm sure you'd get a response (Bill & 'Sheldon' are the most responsive--the others are more sporadic).
Thank you!
That is a great tip, but I don't have a Twitter account. I'll considering getting one  Cheesy

Great job!  Any advise on learning amigurumi skills?  Were you already a crocheter?

Thanks Smiley
Yes, I have crocheted before, but I usually knit. I guess that if you know the basic crochet-stitches, it shouldn't be too hard to start making your own amigurumi. You could just start with a simple amigurumi pattern and experiment a little with increasing and decreasing and see what kind of shapes you get. Good luck!

Thanks!  I do knit some and have learned a bit about crocheting.  Just have to put in some practice.  Have so many ideas for amigurumi...it's killing me!

I was just in American Apparel today, completely appalled at their prices for items that were basically pieces of fabric, so I am 100% admiring this project and I am super tempted to try it myself. You did a great job - I know that if I did this, my zippers would be hideous.

While I agree American Apparel is expensive, you have to remember this is a product that is made completely in the US by workers that are paid a fair working wage.  When big chain stores can offers things so cheap, you really have to think about "why". That's really where the price comes in.  But of course, Kudos for finding them at the thrift store!  always the best option! (Sorry for being preachy.  Just had to throw in my 2 cents, for what it's worth).

Oh, by the way...awesome job!!

I've been trying to teach myself crocheting, so I can make some amigurumi.  Inspiring! Thanks!

Ahhh! that looks so cute! I have been dying to make this for ages, but my bike needs fixing up:(
Pattern is online here- http://www.evilmadscientist.com/article.php/bustbike
A damn good blog too Smiley

Thank you!  I was trying to find the link online for everyone!  It's super easy to make.  I did spruce it a bit with lining and used my serger, though.

Here it is...my first craft challenge entry!  Whoo hoo!

This idea comes from a tute in Bust magazine (my favorite) and when I read it, knew I could get the essentials all from the D store.

I used two placemats, velcro cable ties, reg velcro and some pretty buttons they had.
