1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Messenger/Diaper bag on: July 30, 2008 02:41:01 PM
So I FINALLY finished this bad boy.  I was starting to wonder if I was cursed or something with all the remakes I had to do.  But all in all, the bag looks FAB!  Let me know what you think!  As usual, sorry for the ick pics.  If I ever figure out how to get a decent picture of these things without setting up a whole white stage and hiring a pro photographer I'll let you know!

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Skull purse/diaper/pirate bag--And Spidey too!! on: June 12, 2008 06:06:45 PM
I love love love both these bags but kept the skull one.  My search for the best diaper bag(is there a ever a perfect one?) resulted in my making my own.  Once I figured out how to make regular bags, it seemed logical to jump to diaper bags.  The Spiderman one is HUGE, meant to follow little one as an overnight bag for a long time, both are machine washable.  I loves me the skulls though, and had to make one for myself since I keep making them for everyone else!  These are my first 2, what do you think?!

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Suede cloth info, help! on: May 26, 2008 04:33:15 PM
I make purses as a budding side business, in the tiny bit of time I get from my 2 year old.  I just recently purchased a Janome HT2008 machine to replace a hobby machine I had previously.

My question is this:  does anyone know a good suede cloth out there?  I found some once, it was a nice light weight costume fabric.  At least that's where I found it as a markdown at my local Jo Anns but I haven't been able to locate more.  I also found some Alova suedecloth but it's in pretty limited colors meaning nothing dark like I want.

At any rate, the heavier weight suede-type fabrics prove to be a bit hard on my machine, they are pretty dense.  I've developed patterns that are easier on my machine, handles and etc get pretty thick and cause needles to bend and hit the sewing plate (or whatever that thing is called under the needle:P).  I've altered my designs and use lots of

Does anyone have any ideas for me out there?  Anything is appreciated.  I get loads of requests for purses with some sort of suede material and I love the end result but the potential for damage to my machine makes me nervous.
