Okay, now I have major bike envy - it is beautiful!!!  How about doing something crafty with a deck of cards and putting them in the spokes so they make that cool noise while you are zoomin' down the Arizona roads?

423  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitting needles on airplanes? on: September 28, 2004 06:59:56 AM
I was in Ireland for a month in June and I had no problem with my Denise needles.  My sister had no trouble taking her bamboo needles from San Francisco to Chicago but had her needles confiscated before our transfer to to Aer Lingus in Chicago - we were sitting in the airport with only minutes until our gate was going to close transferring her project onto my Denise needles!  We fortunately made the flight and she ordered a set as soon as we got home!!

Actually that sweater should be in Stitch and Botch!  It is the pattern from Cowl and Howl in the Stitch n' Bitch book.  When it says decrease 2 inches for stretch - don't, if you are making it for a little dog!  It fit Monkey for about a day when he was a puppy!  Now I am working on a ladybug sweater and the size is turning out much better -  Poor Monkey!

I have been lurking for awhile and thought I would post a link to a sweater I just reconstructed.  I had this old boring black Gap sweater and wanted to do a knitting project fast.  I just knitted cuffs and a neck using Velvet Touch Super Chunky and some pink eyelash yarn together sewed it on and voila - a new kitten sweater!  I'm not sure how to post pictures yet but here is the link (in real life the accents are a bubblegum pink color - the flash messed up the color)

426  California / California: Central / Re: San Francisco: Muse Sewing Workshops on: September 02, 2004 11:31:54 PM
I had a private lesson with Shannon and she was great!  I really learned a lot but unfortunately some family health issues came up and I couldn't continue.  I highly recommend her.  She is really informative but not condesending (sp?).

I am sure you have already come and gone but the best museum for kids is the Exploratorium.  I hope I am not too late posting this.  If so, I hope you enjoyed your stay in our city!!!

Yay! a reply to my reply Cheesy I dunno, maybe issue an invitation on Craigslist?  It is local and the craft forum is picking up speed but thankfully there are no trolls (yet!) Here is the link

429  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitting needles on: September 02, 2004 09:02:31 PM
I'm new to this site and also a beginner knitter (as shown by my puppie's miserable expression on my avater!  I love my Denise needles as they are really easy to work with.  Also, I recently went to Ireland and was able to take them on the international flight with no problem (the airline confiscated my sister's straight bamboo needles - they were nice enough to not just take them outright and let her transfer her sweater onto my Denise needles!!).

I'm brand spanking new to this site but if there aren't any groups - there should be!  My friends think I am insane to craft and one peek at my craft room kind of confirms this for them.  I was born and raised in SF and to this day, if I cross 19th avenue I feel like I should send a postcard to my mother! I would be interested in starting one.
