1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Belated Christmas present needed! on: December 26, 2006 03:25:35 PM
Hey everyone!!! I am in desperate need of help finding a gift for a friend. I didn't think we were exchanging presents this year, but apparently we are. Here's some info about her:

She's 25 and studying physics at UC Berkeley. She loves to run. She parties and drinks a bunch. She loves to knit, although she hasn't knit anything in awhile. She used to be a project manager for Habitat for Humanity, so she's very handy. She adores Rosie the Riveter and Wonderwoman. She's loud and has the most infectious laugh you will ever hear. She's tall like an Amazon woman. She has had a really rough time the past 10 years with her health (she has lupus). I'm thinking of a gift that is a pick-me-up kind of thing. Oh, and she has her first real apartment of all time now. She has her first kitchen and living room instead of just a bedroom. We've been best friends for 8 years and she is always the hardest person to buy gifts for.

So far I'm thinking of making her a Rosie the Riveter devotion candle. I'm stumped after that. I need to make sure she can fit it in a suitcase. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks guys and Happy Crafting!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Monkees record purse on: March 07, 2005 05:26:22 PM
I made this purse for my sister. The front and back are from a Monkees album and the sides and bottom are from an ABBA album. Sorry I do not have pictures of the rest of it. I hope you like it!

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / blank wall needs update on: September 17, 2004 08:28:34 PM
My new apartment is very clean and boring. I have this large white wall in my living room that is need of something punchy. I have gray carpeting and a wine colored sofa in the living room...it's a bit textured so it's more folksy than sleek. I also have some brown leather and wood in the room.  I like working with photos...but just about anything would work. I want people to say "wow!" Help!
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / nifty knitting bag on: September 08, 2004 09:55:35 PM
I made this bag for a friend so she could carry her knitting around with her wherever she went. I made it out of Christmas stocking felt. I probably should have lined it b/c sometimes the needles poke out. It it basically a huge bag that has pockets on the front for her needles. I was feeling creative so I knit the strap for it.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / cute floral bag on: September 08, 2004 09:53:30 PM
I used three different cheap floral fabrics I found in the clearance bin. Never underestimate the power of cheap fabric!

6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Woody Allen purse on: September 08, 2004 09:50:27 PM
I found a random silhouette of Woody Allen and thought my friend (who is the hugest Woody Allen fan ever) would love it! So, here's is my stencilled Woody Allen purse.

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / family photo quilt on: September 02, 2004 08:25:32 PM
I made this photo quilt for my parents. I put on it photos off the family from when my parents were kids to just a year ago. It's too small to cover a bed and I'm afraid it will get ruined, so it;s hanging up in their house. If you want instruction, let me know!

8  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Silver Angel Wings on: September 02, 2004 08:22:13 PM
I made these wings for this play called "Marisol" and then decided they were so cool that I needed to keep them for myself. I made them out of chicken wire, hangers, and random wires I found at the theatre shop. I then cut different gray and silver strips of fabric and tied them on. They used to be above my bed, but they don't fit there anymore, so they are above my kitchen table.

9  Florida / Florida: North / anyone in Gainesville? on: September 02, 2004 07:59:06 PM
I moved to Gainesville a year ago and am seriously craft deprvied. No one seems to craft here! I am all alone in my knitting and sewing. Anyone know of anything good in this area?
