1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Belated Christmas present needed! on: January 01, 2007 06:36:02 PM
I ADORE that idea! I've made us several t-shirts already with funny phrases from our friendship so I know she will appreciate that one! Thanks a bunch!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Another "What do I get my boyfriend??" post... With a twist! on: December 28, 2006 08:02:03 PM
You could embroider or applique on an old tie you get at a thrift store. Decorating a t-shirt or even boxers is cute. You can put funny sayings or nicknames on the butt with fabric paint. Homemade yummy gifts are always good...bake him his favorite cookies or a cake. Make him a fun devotional candle to anyone he admires. You take a plain old tall candle in a glass case from the dollar store and mod podge pictures on it. I'm making one of Conan O'Brian for my boyfriend.

Hope these ideas help! Good luck!

I LOVE the idea of an ipod case. Hmm...gotta figure out which kind she has. I can totally make it a Wonder Woman one as well. I also think I'm going to decorate this wooden mirror frame with pictures of us and inspirational messages. Thanks for the ideas!!!

Hey everyone!!! I am in desperate need of help finding a gift for a friend. I didn't think we were exchanging presents this year, but apparently we are. Here's some info about her:

She's 25 and studying physics at UC Berkeley. She loves to run. She parties and drinks a bunch. She loves to knit, although she hasn't knit anything in awhile. She used to be a project manager for Habitat for Humanity, so she's very handy. She adores Rosie the Riveter and Wonderwoman. She's loud and has the most infectious laugh you will ever hear. She's tall like an Amazon woman. She has had a really rough time the past 10 years with her health (she has lupus). I'm thinking of a gift that is a pick-me-up kind of thing. Oh, and she has her first real apartment of all time now. She has her first kitchen and living room instead of just a bedroom. We've been best friends for 8 years and she is always the hardest person to buy gifts for.

So far I'm thinking of making her a Rosie the Riveter devotion candle. I'm stumped after that. I need to make sure she can fit it in a suitcase. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks guys and Happy Crafting!

Ok, looks like we are forming a Stitch N Bitch in Gainesville. I am so excited! So, I guess everyone who wants to join, reply to this message and include your e-mail address if it isn't on your profile. I am not that good at knitting so I am still learning. Spread the news! Let's see how many people we can get to join!

I would love to! I always wanted to start one at UF but lacked the time and motivation. I'm sure we can get several people to join. I love knitting and crafting of all kinds!

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Monkees record purse on: March 08, 2005 05:14:52 AM
I punched holes in the sides and put in grommets, then sewed it up together with a thin leather string. Putting in the grommets was a pain in the butt, but it turned out great. I will try to put up a few more photos.

I made this purse for my sister. The front and back are from a Monkees album and the sides and bottom are from an ABBA album. Sorry I do not have pictures of the rest of it. I hope you like it!
