1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / japanese pattern help on: April 24, 2010 10:25:25 PM
Please, can anyone help me, I am looking for this pattern - I think it is a japanese pattern.
I would love to make a scarf for myself but I have no idea which book it comes from or where to source it.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / shaping a bought shirt? on: January 24, 2009 05:33:37 PM
I want to alter a cotton shirt to fit better around the waist. Do I take in a bit along the side seams only or should I take in a bit on the darts running up from the hem too? Or will it be better to just use a belt? I just want the shirt to have a bit better shape -not so boxy.
I hope someone can give me some advice as my brain has shut down today Angry

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / finishing off an opening on: June 30, 2008 02:59:37 AM
I am  pathetic knitter but have this awesome labour of love coat my mum made which just needs the front and neck finished but I dont know how. Could any of you talented knitters  possibly give me some idea of how I could finish it? I am not sure whether a person knits the edge and then sews it on or are you supposed to pick up stitches or something? I can crochet well so could I finish it in crochet maybe?

Please help- I would sooo love to be able to show it off!
5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / storing your sewing machine on: April 08, 2008 06:06:34 AM
I hope someone can help me!
When you pack away your sewing machine is the presser foot supposed to be up or down? I vaguely remember a teacher saying something about it being important and prolonging the life of the machine but I can't remember which way to swing.
So please crafsters, which way should I go, up or down?
