1  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Victorian bustle gown + corset. [Image heavy!] on: February 04, 2010 06:54:03 AM
Thank you so much everyone! =D

JBear;
Bodice pattern. This one was such a pain, lots of trial and error on that. Probably took about 3 times as long as the rest of the dress. If you do decide to make this, feel free to send me a PM if you need any help figuring it out. Smiley
Skirt pattern, Burda #7880
I can't find the link to the corset pattern we used, but it shouldn't be too hard to find a good corset pattern.

Wow, I finally get around to posting this, almost a year after it was finished! Okay, so at my past school there's a tradition of having a dress-up day in school a few days before you graduate. Me being me, I of course made this into an excuse to take on a silly large sewing project and spend way too much money on fabric.

Anyways. I don't really have all that much to say about it, except that it was oh, so much fun, and that it never would have been possible without my mother. The skirt was a burda pattern, but the bodice and corset were both made from vintage patterns printed from teh interwebz! Enlarging and following those was probably the hardest part to be honest.

Either way, pics!

I didn't actually wear this white skirt under it all, just wanted to keep some dignity for the pictures. xD

Yeah, making a proper bustle for all of this would have taken way too long. Gotta love tulle!

And I actually did end up wearing this dress once again. Or at least one part of it. The overskirt got to be a piece of my steampunk Halloween costume last year. Excuse the silly picture, best I've got. xD
3  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Re: Need Help with Ruffliness on: June 19, 2009 04:59:21 PM
From what I can see, at least from the second picture, these ruffles are not just made by straight pieces of fabric. To me, it looks like a big circle, imagine a circle skirt with a MUCH bigger hole, gathered into ruffles, creating volume both from the gathering and the fact the fabric is bigger on the "lower" end. Smiley

So... I've made yarn for the first time!  Shocked

It's just single-ply of some wooly-stuff, but I'm damn  proud of it!

Very beautiful. I'm usually not a fan of pink, but in this case it's awesome.
