21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Mohawk Hat on: March 08, 2008 09:58:14 AM
Ive seen these before, and they were nice enough, but something about yours makes me want to go out right now and get the pattern and the yarn. I need this hat  Cheesy Its a shame its felted too small, but if it looks that good on teddy, Im sure any kid can rock it

I forgot to mention I used knit picks yarn... wool of the andies 3 pink cheeks and one cherry blossom
And I tried it on my 2 yo and it is too small!  so I guess it's for the bear!

I've made this hat before and what they don't mention is that you only need to felt it for like 30 seconds if that otherwise it ends up TINY. SadSad I looked at the picture again after I shrunk mine and realized there's still a ton of stitch definition on theirs Sad

Thanks, I will remember that next time!

I saw this book: Pretty in Punk by Alyce Benevides & Jaqueline Milles at the library and on the cover is a mohawk hat!  I just had to make one.

I knitted the biggest size, b/c I have a large head.  Next came felting and this is my second time to felt... I think I went a little overboard on the felting!!  Shocked Shocked Shocked

It now fits my Elvis Bear.  I think it will fit my 4 yo son, I'll have to wait until he wakes up.

I still love this hat and I am going to try again!!

What do you think?

24  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Shark Pillowcase on: February 09, 2008 08:56:53 AM
My son loves sharks!  When I saw this fabric on Ebay I just had to have it!

Unfortunately I didn't buy enough to make a whole pillowcase so I came up with this idea.

This is my free hand pattern

I made some teeth and an eye out of felt and then zigzag stitched all around the outside of the shark.  I think I just made a 4 year old shark fan very happy!!

Nice! How long did it take you to make the shrug?

I've been eyeing that book for a bit, and I've been wanting a shrug. I have yet to make a sweater-type object, (just hats, purses, scarves, and blankets) do you think the shrug would be a good place to start?

I think it would.  The pattern was mostly half double crochets it was pretty easy.  I can't really tell you how long it took, b/c I didn't work on it all at one time, It took me like 3 days, only working on it when I could.

Great job on the hat,  looks great.  I don't remember seeing that pattern in the Creative Knitting Mag.  Was it a recent magazine?  I'll have to go look through my copies and see if I can find it.

Phyllis

I think it was the Dec or Nov issue, I know I had it made before Christmas.

Wow I LOVE the first one!! I'll have to find that book. Where did you get it from?
I got the book from Overstock.com it gave me the best price.
29  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Favorite hat! on: January 24, 2008 07:00:57 PM
When I saw this hat pattern in the Creative Knitting Mag I just had to make it!  It is big enough to fit my big hair!  I made it with Red heart yarn.  It was also my first intermediate pattern!

I just bought this great book, 'Positively Crochet' it has so many great patterns and they are so easy to understand!  These are my first two projects from this book

This one is called circular shrug and I made it with Red Heart yarn, dark brown.  I had to wash out the pic to see the detail.

It is my favorite!

This one is the Tie-front sweater.  It is a little big in the front but I think it is pretty good for my first sweater.  I used Caron Simply Soft.

So? what do you think?
