I second the nomination for best costume ever.   Clever, funny, and relatively simple.  You are a genius!
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Tiramisu Blanket on: April 23, 2010 08:08:49 AM
That is so pretty! I think I'll try to make two of these for my bunk bed. Cheesy
About how many skeins did you use? Will the finished blanket be big enough for a twin sized bed or will I have to improvise? *sorry for all the questions. ^^;*

Thanks!    This one is baby-blanket sized.... perhaps 2.5ft by 4ft?   It took 6skeins (~650 yards).  You'll have to improvise a bit - just start with a longer starting chain (I think it just needs to be an even number of stitches for the pattern to work out).  Hope that helps!

Thanks guys!

This was one of those projects that I worked on absentmindedly for a while.... started in february, I think and worked it in spurts.  Didn't take too long.   The pattern is really easy once you get it going, so it's a good thing to work on while watching movies.

Ilianora - this would make a fantastic warm blanket - it's nice and thick.  Eats yarn like a mofo though, so you'll need lots!

Super cute!   And that last photo is HILARIOUS.  hee!

I actually started to make a blanket with a different pattern, but got 1/4 of the way through and wasn't happy with it, so I went back to a pattern I know makes lovely blankets: the Tiramisu!    It makes a nice, thick blanket which I'm told is a good play surface for little ones because it's so cushy.

Used Elann's superwash bamboo yarn which wasn't terribly soft as I was working with it, but after a soak/wash it became much softer.

6  CANADA / British Columbia / New craft store in Vancouver on: April 02, 2010 11:10:54 AM
A Michaels is opening in Vancouver!   On Broadway @ Heather (in the old London Drugs storefront), near Broadway & Cambie.   A Michaels in Vancouver proper, finally!!       The sign says it's opening Fall 2010.... so a bit of a wait yet.   Thought I'd share the news!

This is fantastic!   Huge, but awesome!   I'm sure any kid would go bonkers if they got one of these!  Smiley
8  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 12-point Star Blanket~along w pattern (a.k.a. Round Ripple) on: October 18, 2009 02:34:48 AM
I love round ripples - great project that doesn't require a lot of attention once you get going!

This is my third (gender neutral baby gift):

I know Urban Yarns (in Point Grey) has a regular knit/crochet night at their shop.   Every Friday night 6-9pm!
