11  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Help me put a kit together for my DH! on: February 04, 2009 08:10:13 AM
Ok, I've searched all the topics and if I'm duplicating I'm sorry but I can't find the answers I need.  My DH has been hinting around that he wants a screen printing kit to make some shirts for his buddies and what not.  He will more or less be making some single color shirts with basic letters, maybe something on the order of a mark like a nike swoosh or something.  Occasionally he may want to put a silhouette of a gun on there.  Anyway, can someone tell me exactly what I need to get him?  I've found references to the Speedball kit, but then others say there are ways to put together a kit for much cheaper because there are certain items that need to be replaced like the squeegee.  He will probably want photo emulsion since I really don't see him taking the time to cut out a bunch of stencils, he's more of an instant gratification type man.  SO, could someone help me put together a kit for him?  I am a complete idiot when it comes to this so I need a definitive list like buy screen a from www.buyscreena.com.  Oh, and I really need to keep it under $100 if possible, he'll be buying the shirts so I don't have to worry about that, except for maybe buying one or two to get him started. Thanks!!!
12  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Help me make an ornament for DH on: November 16, 2008 11:32:16 AM
Hi!  My DH is ex military and loves guns and ammo and all things outdoors.  I saw a lot of people talking about holiday traditions and I love the idea of us making an ornament for each other but I am completely drawing a blank! I would love to do something with a spent shell or something but I have no idea of what to do aside from the Santa heads made out of shotgun shells I see all over the place here.   Help!!

14  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Paging Nurse Molly to the kitchen stat! on: November 15, 2008 12:43:16 PM
This is Molly's Halloween costume.  She's a nurse at our hometown ER.  Our hometown hospital has a pretty bad reputation so she's wearing skulls and crossbones get it?  I can make fun of them cause my MIL is a nurse there and agrees that there are some bad staff... Anyway, here are the pictures...

15  COOKING / Dessert / WTF? Why does my icing keep melting? on: November 15, 2008 11:58:09 AM
Ok, I'm trying to get a gazillion pupcake from Hello Cupcake done by tonight and my stupid icing keeps melting and their heads fall off!!!!  I'm using the Wilton buttercream recipe, and this has been an ongoing problem for me!! My flowers and stuff always look pretty but then they start to droop and melt!!  WTF?!
16  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Crafting for an abused little boy on: October 19, 2008 08:21:10 AM
So, I work with a lady who is a close friend of the family of this little boy.  In September he was abused and nearly died, he is now severally handicapped both mentally and physically.  So, we want to do something for him.  We want to give him the best Christmas he has ever had and also raise some money to help with expenses.  Does anyone have any ideas??  I'm thinking about making him some friendly monster stuffies, but that is about all I have!! We are thinking about maybe having a craft fair to benefit him.  You can read all about it here,  be warned, its really sad and will probably make you mad!!

17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Two aprons on: September 16, 2008 02:05:29 PM
As modeled by my door.  I made them from the Simplicity pattern, can't remember the number.  I hand sewed both of them cause it seemed like something to do.

Present for my MIL

And a present for my mom.  She picked out the fabric and I wasn't sure about it at first, thought it would look to old ladyish, but I love how it turned out.

18  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Birthday party for a mollycule... on: September 16, 2008 02:00:37 PM
Molly's first pack birthday was in August.  You know, the anniversary of when she joined our pack. Smiley  Anyway, I baked her a puppy cake from a recipe in the Three Dog Bakery cookbook.  I did frost it with regular frosting but she does love her sweetness so I figure a little wouldn't hurt her.

and a side view complete with bones

Her present, a tshirt dress which she loves cause she loves to dress up!!

MMMM cake...
