1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: The Christmas Manatee on: December 31, 2008 01:12:40 PM
That is awesome, your boyfriend is awesome, you guys' sewing skillz are awesome, and of course, having Barbara Manatee stuck in my head once again is pretty awesome.  (Veggie Tales definitely heavily influenced my decision to make that first manatee, haha!)

Ahh, yours are very cute!  Love the leetle nostrils.

Ah!  Your manatees are adorable!  I love the color and fabric on them.  Dressing up the flippers was a stroke of genius.  I hope your married friends love them, too.  <3
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Poppet Boots Tutorial on: March 01, 2008 08:03:08 AM
It's already been said, but thank you for this.  The pictures are great and the instructions all made sense!  I don't have a poppet, but I do have another doll I was trying to make boots for.  This is exactly what I needed!  Thank you again for taking the time to make this.   Grin
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Lucy the Ring-Tailed Lemur Poppet on: February 06, 2008 07:16:26 AM
Ah!  This is my favorite poppet so far.  Something about ring tailed lemurs is just inherently awesome!  And you did a bang-up job, I would have recognized what animal it was even without the description.

The eyes are my favorite part, smashing job there.   Grin  Closely followed by the tail...

I like the orange hair, too.  All the colors go together.

Hope you have tons of fun making clothes.  A safari type khaki set sounds cool to me, or anything in green...so many choices!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: My Tape Wallet on: February 04, 2008 10:56:00 AM
i'm impressed! how did you manage to pry the front from the back of the ipod?

I think I love you  Cool

This is a very nice project, I really like how you added the fabric around it to fatten it up.  I didn't like the look of the skinny plain ones that were just zippers & cassette.

On the downside, I haven't listened to a tape for so long I don't think I have even a single one anywhere in the house that I could cannibalize.  Drat!  To the secondhand shop!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Totoro Knit Handbag- very cute, I promise! on: February 02, 2008 08:13:49 AM
Awesome job on the bag!

I also like fabric of the kodama roll you made.  It seems good and foresty, but girly too!

Man, I love Totoro.  I think I saw those (or similar) acorn buttons at Jo-Anns last time I was there, and I desperately wanted to get 'em, but I had no project for them.  This is a perfect use of them!   Grin

Millionth-ing the color choice love, too.  I'm no fan of blue, but these shades are all perfect together.
8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Tastee Cone (better picture) on: February 01, 2008 05:58:00 AM
There's just something so cute about food with facial expressions ... even though it probably indicates a rather disturbing thought pattern ie. "aww, it's looking at me, even though I will probably digest it"

Haha, and "Aww, it's so cute I just wanna EAT it!"

It is cute, my favorite part is the cone detail, too.  It makes me wanna get some embroidery floss, I've never used it before.

Are the eyes little pieces of felt?  If they are, how in the world do you get them so round?!  Mine always turn out more and more lopsided and tinier as I keep going 'round them with the scissors trying to shave off the lopsided bits.
9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Felt Manatee (With basic pattern) on: January 30, 2008 03:52:12 PM
I was reminded by this thread how much I like manatees, so I tried to do my own version with felt.  I think it turned out pretty cute (how could it not, it's a sea cow!), but not quite as cute as the crocheted inspirations.   Wink

And my pattern:

Feel free to use however you like!  Please post pictures if you do!  Smiley

Throwing down another vote for the 'can't stop' crew!

This is adorable though.  I'm a big sucker for the huge head factor.  The tail on this is just great too.

How do you get the nose so pointy when it's so freakin' tiny?!
