1  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Vegan chocolate peanut butter cupcakes on: January 29, 2008 05:52:58 PM
These are from Vegan cupcakes take over the world. I made up the icing on my own, it's basically melted chocolate mixed with peanut butter (amazing what you can come up with when you run out of icing sugar). I also melted a bunch of chocolate, smoothed it out, chilled and broke it into shards for decorating the tops.

(makes 12 cupcakes)

1 cup soy milk
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup canola oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract, chocolate extract, or more vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder, Dutch-processed or regular
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

1. Preheat oven to 350F and line muffin pan with paper or foil liners.

2. Whisk together the soy milk and vinegar in a large bowl, and set aside for a few minutes to curdle. Add the sugar, oil, and vanilla extract, and other extract, if using, to the soy milk mixture and beat till foamy. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add in two batches to the wet ingredients and beat till no large lumps remain (a few tiny lumps are okay).

3. Pour into liners, filling three-quarters of the way. Bake 18 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Transfer to cooling rack and let cool completely.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Pineapple inspired bag on: January 29, 2008 05:34:34 PM
This is a bag I made for a friend of mine who is obsessed with pineapples, bright colours and randomness. It's lined with flannelette and has a bunch of different yellow and green buttons in the top left corner. It's pretty huge (bigger than I intended it to be) and reaches just past my hip when it's over my shoulder.

Lining, the little green shape next to the strap on the right is two pineapple buttons I had left over, which I also gave her.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Very basic pencil skirt - First successful clothing item ever! on: January 28, 2008 08:40:46 PM
This is the first piece of clothing I've ever successfully completed, with a zip and everything! I'm reeeeeally proud of it, no matter how simple it is! The top is a bit funny and it's slightly too big but I wear long shirts anyway hehe Tongue
