21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to make this dress? on: June 21, 2005 07:29:00 AM
I've seen several sewing patterns that are similar to that. If you haven't sewn before or are a beginner, I suggest going with a pattern. If you're in the US, Joann's has their patterns on sale for $.99 like 2 times a month or something. Go then and check through the books.

Could you dress as a nurse? I don't know what a land girl is?
23  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Knit but cant sew, sew but cant knit Accessory Swap (Sign Up June 15-30) on: June 21, 2005 07:19:53 AM

I am a knitter/crocheter and just PM'ed.
As long as my swap partner realizes the amount of time invested in a good knit or crochet project, I am all for the exchange Smiley I just do not want to end up hurting the other party's feelings thinking they've been shortchanged.

like other people have been saying-most good sewing projects take a while. I can't just whip something out in a couple of hours. I like to take my time, overlock every seam, rip it out if it's not perfect...anything other than a tiny purse or clutch or something (which take about 2 hours) can take me a whole day or more to finish! So let's not underestimate anyone's time, seamstresses or knitters.

Sounds like a neat idea.
25  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / An antique tin toy...knitting! Who is it? Look and see..... on: June 20, 2005 02:03:26 PM
It's Minnie Mouse! They have a display of antique tin toys from Japan on display in the Japan area, and I just had to take a pic to show you guys. Isn't she adorable? I'd love to see what she looks like when she's wound up.
26  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Thoughts on my site- soap and cosmetic base supplier & fragrances on: June 16, 2005 02:13:50 PM
I like that you have a lot of selection, and your prices are very reasonable. I agree with what the other person said, a bit more color and maybe some pics would be nice. I have one other question-why are you called soy wholesale? I didn't see any soy products on your site. Seems to me if that's your name, all your products would be soy-based? As a customer, that would throw me for a loop.
27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Over sized tee to tank? on: June 16, 2005 02:06:26 PM
It's http://www.ohmystars.net/craft/ There's a whole section on reconstructed clothing, so you really didn't need to ask this question, just check out that area.
28  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Serger Stitch Help on: June 16, 2005 10:44:51 AM
If you saw your first reply, she answered about the tshirt hem. I don't know if the 644 has coverstitch ability. If it does, awesome, that's what you use. If it doesn't, you either buy a coverstitch only machine, or you can do a faux coverstitch with your sewing machine using twin needles.
29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to hem a blazer to make it three-quarters sleeved? on: June 16, 2005 08:43:13 AM
Yup, just fold it and sew. That's one of the easiest alterations, changing hem length.
30  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Father's Day / Re: Dad who likes to tinker...? on: June 16, 2005 08:38:05 AM
You could do a tool roll.
