1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / My group of Wild things on: November 01, 2011 11:50:01 PM

This year Hubby, our daughter and myself went as 2 of the Wild things, and Max. I spent about $7 on my daughters costume, buying clearance and discounted fabrics. It was my first time sewing a full costume, I was very happy with how it turned out!

The masks were made using paper mache, carboard and foam balls. They were heavily inspired by Amy's Carol Mask, found here:

thanks for looking!

2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / help with mask! *updated* on: September 29, 2011 10:35:55 PM
Myself, my hubby and our daughter are going as Carol, kw, and Max from where the wild things are. Im making the masks out of paper mache, and I used an exercise ball for the form. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to keep these things on our heads! I kept working on them anyways, thinking it would come to me and well.. it never did. There is so much extra space inside the mask, even a helmet is too small. Any ideas? Im sooo stuck!  Undecided

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!! I ended up building a cardboard frame resembling a basket inside the mask to fill up some of the extra space. I then sprayed the inside of the basket with expanding foam, and carved out where our heads went. It worked wonderfully!

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My daughters spring hoodlet on: May 04, 2011 08:40:30 AM
So I found an amazingggg pattern on Ravelry for a Woodland hoodlet, and just had to make one for my 2 year old! 3 days later I had this:

Its made out of LWool Ease Thick and Quick, its soo warm and comfy. I need to make myself one too!
4  COOKING / Dessert / My first cake! on: January 28, 2010 09:34:44 PM
So to start off, i dont bake. It never turns out right... always burnt or underdone  Embarrassed But my daughter turned one at the end of October (yes, I do realize its almost the end of January, Im really bad for actually posting the things I do) so I decided to make her a cake  Smiley I think it turned out really good, I followed a recipe for chocolate cake I found on Allrecipes (man there are a lot of recipes!) And it didn't burn, and was cooked all the way through Cheesy I made two cakes, which between classess and my daughter took me two days. Then I had to ice them. Now going into this, I thought the cake would be the hard part... not the icing. The directions for the frostin seemed easy, but what no one told me was how hard it is to make red frosting! I kept adding more and more red food colouring... not realizing that I needed to add some orange to get it to come out right  Angry So, in the end I gave up. His eyes and nose are frosting I made at home, and his delightfully red fur is store bought Betty Crocker.

Just finished, the one I messed up the icing on I just left, that was the one for her to destroy anyways

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Delilah on: July 11, 2009 11:03:46 PM
My friends little girl just turned 1! I drew a picture of her for her birthday, because I'm cool like that (and she asked me too  Tongue) Unfortunately, my scanner decided it doesn't want to work anymore, so I had to try to get a picture with my digital camera which is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Well, anyways! I give you Delilah

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Cadence's green newsboy hat on: May 28, 2009 09:33:02 AM
hello all  Smiley
With the weather warming up, my daughter needed a summerish hat that was a bit more lightweight than the ones she already had. I loveeee this hat pattern, I got it from Nutella dream's late night crafts on etsy. it is super easy and quick to do. I still need to weave in the end, but I was excited to get it on her and see how it fit lol. I want to make another one in white, to go with all of her outfits

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Blue Baby hat on: April 15, 2009 08:39:18 PM
hi all! I made this hat for my friend Ruth who's 35 weeks pregnant with a little boy ^_^. I got the pattern from thnkdfrent's etsy shop. The pattern was for a 12-24 month old, so I modified it to fit a 0-3 months. My 5 month old is modeling the hat, and its wayyy to small for her, but the idea is there anyways  Smiley My boyfriends family has babies in crops, right now there is 5 children under the age of two so Im thinking I might make these for the babies of the family next year come christmas time. Thanks for looking

9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Flower Headband for spring! on: March 07, 2009 11:02:10 AM
Yesterday it was so warm here in Toronto (+14 Celcius) I had to make something spring-ish for Baby Cadence Smiley I made a little flower headband out of a pair of 0-3 months pants she grew out of *tears* shes getting so big! I had a hard time cutting into the tiny little pants at first, but managed to pull through. I found some fake flowers on clearance at Walmart a few months back so I used one of them. Dont let the pictures fool you, It is purple, not blue! I dont really understand why purple doesnt photograph well, but oh well! its cute in blue too!
