22  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / My version of the lion brand "luxury hood" on: February 19, 2008 09:52:07 AM
from the Lion Brand luxury hood pattern
I used DK weight 8/3 ply yarn(mostly), a 7mm hook for the main hood, and a 6mm hook for the border and seams.I also added in this order:
2 rows hdc,2 rows dc, 2 rows hdc to the back, and a vintage flower button for closure instead of seaming it as the pattern states.
It was loads of fun to make, only took me a couple of hours, but even more fun to photograph! Smiley
will be nice and warn under my helmet me thinks...

thanks for looking!

and as usual MAAAAAANY more photos on my blog

24  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / plastic/aluminum ring + vintage buttons ring on: January 29, 2008 09:18:33 AM
i've been trying to make rings from plastic bottles for a while now, so i got a new idea the other day.i cut up an aluminum can and a strip of plastic a bit wider.glued the aluminum together, then the plastic over it at the seam and them melted the plastic at the edges.still ned to perfect it though i think so that the plastic melts over the aluminum edge so that it's a bit safer.
the other ring i made is from vintage flower buttons, wire and cotton thread.a bit bulky but still very pretty Smiley

as always comments are most welcome Smiley

i'm kind of nervous about posting here, since most of you guys are amazing embroiderers, and i'm only starting out...(even beginners seem to be doing it perfectly!) but anyhow i love this piece so much i'm just gonna bite the bullet and post it!the original design was a bit different so i omitted some stuff and here she is, i haven't pressed or washed it yet btw Smiley it's done on a pillowcase.

and bleeding heart!

30  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / jewellery organisers![img heavy, kind of!] on: January 05, 2008 06:07:08 AM
i found this great tutorial here

and made two organisers, not exactly as the tute said i kind of winged it with what materials i had, i used styrofoam(you know the white stuff they use for packaging, isn't that what it's called?) instead of cork, and although my stappler refused to work and i had to glue everything i think they turned out ok...
thanks for looking!

more pics are on my blog... Smiley
