1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Make-A-Friend Swap (01-01 to 01-27) CLOSED!! on: March 27, 2008 07:51:52 AM
I am just checking in... Trying to finish up some more little things- which always take MUCH longer than I expect!  I should be able to mail by the 31st, but might have to wait a few days until I get paid... I hate paying rent!  GRRRR!!!
I'm still kind of stumped on the big item for the next package and am seriously starting to get a severe case of anxiety!  If it takes you a while to make something, even though it's technically kind of small-ish, would that count as a big item?  I have a sort-of idea, but don't want to give too much away!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Mermaid Slouchy Tam (with pattern!!) on: March 17, 2008 03:20:24 PM
I totally wanted to make a Jamaican hat out of this, too!  I think the slouchiness works perfectly with a Rasta vibe!

For all my knitters on the fence on this one:  Don't get discouraged, it's actually super easy- KFB, knit into the front AND the back (thus making 2 stitches out of 1), do this 3 times and then knit one stitch regular- so it'd be KFB, KFB, KFB, K!  (<--That is me talking to myself- I find saying it out loud while I'm doing it makes it easier to understand.)  Just do that the whole row and you will end up with 140 stitches, instead of the original 80.  You must persevere!!!  It's all cake after that and a pretty quick knit.  I have major knitting A.D.D. and still managed to churn one out in a weekend.  Good luck!

Adorable! Love it?  If you could share that pattern, or point to where I can get it,  that'd be awesome!  Great job!

Okay, so I've already started on one of these and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how easy it is- and so darn cute!  I still have to bind off, but am probably going to knit 10 more in different colors, it's a great way to kill my stash of Sugar'n Cream!  I'll be sure to post when my loose ends are all woven and it looks neat and tidy! Thanks for the pattern!

Grin  I'm so glad you liked everything!  I was starting to get a bit nervous after seeing all the awesome stuff in this swap!  Plus, I didn't think I could hold a candle to the amazing stuff you sent me!  Sorry for the tissue paper mess, it was all wrapped up nicely at one point, but the Post Office geniuses made me switch the box like 3 TIMES!!!  Tissue paper is not meant to undergo that kind of abuse, and come to think of it, neither am I!  I'm so happy everything got there safe and sound and was so very well received!  The ipod cozy was my favorite, too!  I made the same exact one in the reverse colors- it's from a Eunny Jang pattern I got online.  I now realize that EVERYTHING should have a lovely hand-knit cozy!  Hooray!  This swap is just too much fun!!!  Cheesy

Cheesy Seeing everybody's swap stuff is so cool!  This swap is definitely awesome, and I'm glad I signed up.  I just wish I had put more stuff in my first package after seeing all the glorious booty people have been sending!  That's why there's 2 more packages, right?  LOL!!!  This swap ROCKS!!!  Grin

I would love this, too... but I'm in the same boat as Jenicat and can't start another swap until May.  If this could wait until May (My birthday month, incidentally  Wink) I'd be eteeeeeeeeeernally gratefull!!!  *Prays to crafting gods*
