51  Re: Unconditional Swapper Swap - OCTOBER (gallery) in The Swap Gallery by Synne on: October 26, 2005 08:40:05 PM
Here are some pictures of the package I sent lasandri:
(sort of small, I need a better image-compression program!)
She'd wished for kanzashi flower supplies and crocheted flowers, so I did my best:

I added a little sushi appetizer too:

DsgndbyRJ sent me the most fabulous screenprint! I love the stripes and the detail and the whole tone! I'd wished for a screenprinted item because I'm regretfully ignorant of the technique and its possibilities, and she not only sent her art, but was also kind enough to write an explanation of the process by which she created it!
I need to get a frame! (Modeled by my laptop):

A slightly close-up:

Whoo-hoo! This totally exceeded my expectations--I have a new (signed and numbered!) work of art and I know more about screenprinting to boot! Thank you so so much! You craftsters are so inspiring!

lechaton received my package last week and can't take pictures, so I'm posting one I took before sending:

She'd asked for dangly earrings and a cloche-style hat.

Onesmallinstrument made my week today with a glorious package: (apologies for the small pictures, they don't nearly do them justice!)

She sent me the most beautiful stenciled wifebeater and bonus artwork!!!

The artwork is brilliant--it's intricate and challenging and has also a wonderful interplay of shadows on the wall. I am in awe of her creativity and ingenuity.

Action shot of the top--not only is her stenciling flawless, but she incorporated my favorite shade of green, knitting, AND my kitty Mack! I can't wait to show it off tomorrow.
I love it all and I'm so lucky and grateful! Thank you thank you!

Whoo-hoo! I came back from a long day of class and more class to find PinkMafia's package waiting for me! She sent me a skirt and bag which are both fantastic. The goods:

A fabulous skirt that fits great and I love! The pattern is just my style and it's very lightweight and comfortable so I can be stylin' for the dog days of august we're having here. (Please pardon the picture--I was holding up my t-shirt so it didn't obscure the skirt---I've been taking molecular bio notes all day...)

ADORABLE bag. I love the fabric and it's the perfect size for taking along a knitting project or a book or a picnic lunch or anything else!

The inside of the bag--it's lined with a sweet tiny flower print.
I'm really going to enjoy pimpin' all over town with my new SEWN goodies. PinkMafia is a great seamstress and an awesome swap partner. Thanks so much for making my day!

56  Re: Summer green necklace & anklet in Beads: Completed Projects by Synne on: July 10, 2005 04:25:05 PM

Here's a picture of me wearing the necklace--apologies for the latenes and blurriness...you'd be amazed how difficult it is to find ANYTHING after a move...especially with the amount of crap I have!

57  Summer green necklace & anklet in Beads: Completed Projects by Synne on: May 22, 2005 08:35:19 AM
I've just recently started making jewelry-type things and haven't gotten too creative so far. For some reason green is my new favorite color...

Lariat-style e bead necklace with cheesy assemblage of a brass pistol, feather, and leaf beads.

Seed and bugle bead anklet with leaf beads.
I realized while making these that my string-finishing abilities are somewhat lacking/non-existent. I ended up tying a knot, dabbing with clear nail polish, and slapping a crimp bead to tie off ends, which doesn't look terribly but not perfect either. For some reason I didn't feel secure with just using one or two of the above-mentioned methods. I've been using nymo and cotton thread. Anyone have any hints?

58  Knitty's Cleo Halter in white in Knitting: Completed Projects by Synne on: May 04, 2005 07:30:09 AM
I finished this a while ago, hoping to debut it with the advent of spring. Unfortunately, as spring has not been particularly forthcoming to the city this year, I got impatient and decided to debut it here.

I loved this pattern--I hate sewing but doing the cups separately and then piecing it all together allowed for a really fabulous fit. I substituted a lace pattern for the main body to avoid getting bored.
Now if only the weather would permit me to wear it...

An update on the knitalone:

Nothing too impressive yet, lots of rip and re-knit :-P
