31  Re: Crafty Detective Gallery!!!!! in The Swap Gallery by Synne on: April 15, 2006 07:47:38 AM
I received my package from my stalker who was.....
...the wonderful DithMer!
She did a great job figuring out what I like, including my love of cherry blossoms, asian foods, GREEN, my kitty, and crochet!
All together now:

-Green T-shirt painted (and stenciled?) with a cherry branch (a little small for me, but lovely!)
-Matching cherry blossom art for my walls (yay! I love getting stuff for my walls! I know just the frame for it too...)
-Green zip pouch--with belt loops on the back to attach to a belt--she devised a way to attach the zipper just for me!
-Kitty asian snack food which is absolutely the cutest ever.
-Bonus catnip!
-The Happy Hooker--I've SOO been wanting this!
-Lovely letter explaining everything.
Close-up of the cat toys:

Aren't they adorable? Sushi, egg roll, and fortune cookie. I'm tempted to take some bites into them myself!  I think the fortune cookie is my favorite. As I was saying to DithMer, my kitty recently...well, ran off, and I'm going nuts about it...I'm going to use some of the catnip to try to lure him back!

I'm so excited about this book, you have no idea. Am I a lucky gal or what?!
THANK YOU THANK YOU DithMer! You're an awesome stalker--everyone should have one like you!

32  Re: How's Your etsy Shop Doing? in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by Synne on: April 14, 2006 02:57:34 PM
I adore the fabric on that bag...I'm at a loss for how that flap is reversible too. I agree with the mid-$30s range.
I made the following pendant as a quick study break this afternoon...I should be studying non-stop but my precious little kitty (for whom my shop is named) is lost and I'm going completely crazy. But here it is:

It's all repurposed stuff from jewelry I bought and took apart. The glass has some bubbling and inclusions in it. I really love how it came out, despite it's being so simple, and I sort of half want to keep it. Any thoughts on pricing for a non-sterling item like this? Does anyone even BUY base metal jewelry on Etsy?

33  Re: FOC swap 2!! in The Swap Gallery by Synne on: April 06, 2006 03:06:19 PM
I received a strawberry-licious package from my FOC yesterday and managed to get a few pictures while it was still light out:
She sent me an absolutely adorable strawberry print apron--I've been sorely in need of one--I do the towel-over-shoulder thing now and it just doesn't work for me.

I had a long day yesterday and it was such a nice surprise waiting for me at home!

A bad action shot--I'm sorry I didn't have my usual photographer to take a good one, but rest assured, the apron will be put to good use!

Adorable vinyl strawberry mirror--too cute, it's been added to my purse already.
Thank you so much FOC for sending such a cute and useful package!!!

Also, that belt and earrings are so cute!

I was actually playing around with the idea of making business cards--what do you guys think of this? Does it look too amateur? The stamped lettering is what I put on my product packaging, so I wanted it to tie together. I might change my banner too...

So yes, I'd LOVE to do a card swap!

The secret is out (despite my leaving my SN out of the package)...I stalked...*ta-da!*...
xbelovedxonex! She's received but is having technical difficulties so I'm posting some pictures I took before sending:

I admit it, I cheated and used her wishlists from unconditional swap...she'd asked for necklaces, and wanted more natural than sparkly...so I tried to go in that direction, though the blue one is perhaps a little...anyway. The pendant on the blue one is a piece of found coral with a little silver sea turtle charm (she'd said she liked sea turtles in a post wayyyy back.) I'll spare you the rest of my stalker thought-process, don't want this post to go on forever!

Cabled fingerless gloves/wristwarmers.

She'd asked for a stuffie or maybe an amigurumi--I can't sew but I can crochet...

Shot of it all together--I also put in a sea turtle shirt to recon, some ribbons, an eyelet set, some beaded stitch markers, and a Vogue Knitting. I hope that they will be of some use!

36  Bunny/ Breakfast Mini Tin Advice, please? in Get Product and Website Opinions by Synne on: March 18, 2006 07:21:55 PM
I've fallen in love with polymer clay this year and had this idea in my head of making little mini scenes/plates on covered tins, and I came across these little mini tins. I made these:

This one was sort of triggered by wanting to adopt a bunny.

I've been making food-shaped stitch markers for my shop, and I keep wanting to put together things as meals...

This gives you an idea of the size...they're pretty small!
I listed the bunny tin on etsy.
I just put $12 down as the price (it took me over an hour to make it, plus the cost of materials...) but I'm wondering what you guys think about that. I worry that my clay techniques aren't good enough to warrant people paying that price for such a little tin, and it's not exactly earth-shattering art, but at the same time I put a lot of love into these little guys.

Any thoughts or advice on pricing or any feedback would be so so appreciated! (Sorry, that ended up being rather long-winded...I have a tendency towards that...)

Oh--and any thoughts on the photography, too--I'm getting better with it, but still...not a pro!

WHEEEEEEEEE!!!!! I'm the luckiest craftster in the world! I got my package from the ever-amazing seaofstars yesterday, and have been dying to show it off in the gallery! (Darn those craftster gods!)
She made me an absolutely wonderful knitting tote, needle roll, and zippered pouch set with THE BEST SUSHI FABRIC EVER (that she went out of her way to get for me!) and my favorite shade of green.

Here's the whole set. Notice how everything coordinates perfectly and is adorable. That black furry blob in the upper left is my kitty--even he wanted some of the sushi action! The green on the bag is actually a little closer to a grass green, for some reason my camera refused to acknowledge this...

The inside of the tote, lined with the sushi fabric that I'm absolutely smitten with. It has two big pockets that are perfect for holding knitting accessories and cell phones and lip gloss.

The needle roll, perfectly matching--don't my needles look happy and about 10 times more delicious surrounded by all that sushi?

Action shot of the tote--I've actually already been using it as my all-around purse. People are envious. Green, even!

Needless to say, everything is just impeccably made and so professional--even down to the label on the bottom right of the bag. I love love love my new bag and bow to miss seaofstars' amazing sewing skills. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SEAOFSTARS!!!!!!!!! And THANK YOU to PinkMafia for organizing this wonderful swap!

Yay! I'm so glad you received and liked it, ax174! Here are some pictures I took before sending:

A picture of the top--it's a regular Altoid tin covered with Fimo and glazed. I tried to make it look like the sheep's tail was getting unraveled into the ball of yarn--I don't know if it "reads" quite like that.

The bottom. Swirly, eh?

The inside with the kit contents--nothin' too fancy w/ the stitch markers, just beads in a similar shade of tealy-green as the box top.

I got my lovely OTT from ax174 today! We're both asian knitters, so she made me a lovely mini knitting brooch so I can show off my obsession love of knitting all over town.

The full package--with a lovely chocolate notecard and *gasp* bonus magnets!

A close-up of the brooch. She made sure to make it non-wool (since I think I'm developing a wool allergy, yikes!) and it's in a lovely shade of orange which will just not photograph quite right, darn it! I've actually been wanting one of these for a while, yay!

An action shot of the bonus keyboard key magnets, which are perfect because I keep my entire life on two magnetic noteboards above my desk. (And yes, I've actually been wanting some of these too. How did you know?!)
Thank you so much Eva, you've made my day with your perfect OTT!

40  Re: DIY craft kit round II in The Swap Gallery by Synne on: February 15, 2006 05:22:37 PM
I can attest to CraftyKate's mosaic kit being awesome--just look what I made over the weekend--my first mosaic votive!

I even got to use up some of the picture marbles I had lying around! Her instructions were great, very easy to follow.

I also finally got around to taking a picture of the (already used daily) felted almond soap I made from craftykate's kit:

It's wrapped with one layer of white-with-colored-specks roving and a few streaky layers of beautiful blue/purple roving. The picture really doesn't do it justice! Plus, as I already mentioned, it smells SO SO good.

I love my new crafts! THANK YOU THANK YOU CRAFTYKATE!!!
