I told my sister that I made Egyptian coasters and I think I may have hurt her feelings for not sending them to her...  I suppose I'll have to hunt down similiar supplies since her birthday is coming up!  Smiley

And my husband saw the pictures I took of them, and he said that they looked awesome, which coming from him, is the BIGGEST compliment!    Grin

I just want to post a close up of one of the coasters to show the detail (it was really hard to part with these!):

It was really hard to cut the papyrus, but I think the end result was amazing!!

Here are the pics of my awesome second package (will come thru later on and make the pics from the first package thumbnails!)

The non-crafty hobby!!!  I cannot wait to go to Lowe's and get little pots for my herbs!!  YAY!  And pink gloves!  *drool*

Now for the one thing I think I'm most excited about (boy, did Kim make my stash grow on this!!!!)  Poly clay!!!!!!!!!!!  And glaze, which I can never find!

Some really pretty beads!  Which I love!

Sun sensitive paper (this was on my Dick Blick wishlist, and I love this stuff!  So much fun!)  Whoops- forgot to turn the pic upright

Mosiac tiles (also on my Dick Blick wishlist!!!)

Her cute life story!

**Apologies for my pics and stuff being in a wonky order- I'm feeling a bit poopy right now**

This amazing wristlet, which Kim said is for my crochet hooks, although I think I'll be using it for other purposes since it's so pretty!

She's a newbie at felting, but you'd never know it!

These really super duper cute weather stitch markers!  I guess I needed some since I don't ever keep track of my stitches and usually end up having to guess or start all over again!  LOL!  The grumpy cloud broke, but I think I can fix him!  He just needs a little love, like all grumpy clouds!   Cheesy

This awesome clipboard!  I'm keeping this in the office for all my notes that I end up losing when I turn the fan on! No more missing notes!!

(oh, and funny that great minds must think alike  Wink )

And then this pretty frame, which the glass broke, but that's ok with me, because I have a project already in mind for this, and I don't need the glass!

I'm very happy with everything! I cannot wait to start creating awesome goodies with the polymer clay!  Once again, I was totally spoiled!  Thanks Kim!!

*long distance high five*

Yay!  I received a wonderful package today (July 14th) from Kimberly_Star!!!

Here's everything when I opened the box- Oh, but before the picture, I have a little story to share.  My partner put some newspaper to cushion everything, and when I opened the box, my daughter saw the newspaper and said, "Oh, newspaper!!!!!"  And I think she would have been completely satisfied with Momma getting a box full of paper!   Cheesy

Everything laid out:

The pictures (and this was the bestest idea ever.  So good, that I HAD to use the word "bestest"!)

The local items:
A really nice mug!  I LOVE mugs from all over the place, so this is perfect!

This cute book "A Real Texan" which made my Texan husband smile!

Here's a cute page from it:

My husband and I plan to live in Texas after he retires from the military, so I'm sure I'll be one of those moms!

Vanilla Almond Pecans (YUMMY!)

A beautiful piece of pottery, which is made by an artist about 30 miles from where Kim lives

This will be treasured forever!!

Some postcards- now I just need to find a nice place to put them!!

Her Favorites!
The series finale of Friends (die!!!  I've wanted this for so long!)

Guess what I'm watching the night of my surgery?!?   Cheesy

A guide on Hiking Big Bend, which is her and her husband's favorite activity

I LOVE hiking, so on my trip home to New Mexico, I'm coming over, and we'll all go hiking together, ok?!?

mark. makeup- Kim told me that she sells Avon to fund her crafting, which is funny, because I do too!   Cheesy

The Legend of the Bluebonnet- we read this tonight, and my daughter LOVED it!

A gorgeous bracelet!!  OMG!  I haven't taken it off since I got it!

Here it is on!

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A very perfect picture frame!

The picture doesn't do it any justice, but Ima tell ya, it's AMAZING!

And lastly, a wonderful bookmark!  I think it's too pretty to leave in a book!

I love how moody the blues are!  So wonderful!

I didn't take a picture of the letter since that's personal, but I feel like Kim and I have so much in common!  It's pretty awesome!

Thank you, Kim, for everything!  I can't believe we still get to shower eachother 2 more times!!!

Ok, I received from vgnmom, and I am sooooooooooooooo happy with everything!

This is what I saw when I first opened the package, and honestly, if this is all that came, I'd have been thrilled!  It's skavoovie, baby!

It's a painted box so I can keep all my skalicious goods in!!  YAY!

I opened the box, and found!

Ok, my shape was a rectangle, and she made this awesome clay topped altered tin:

The black and white swirls make me all sorts of happy!  Then you open the box up AND!!!

BAM!  Magnets that spell out my daughter's name, which she's already had tons of fun with!

My color was pink, and right out of my Wists came this guy:

Seriously, this is sooooooooooo awesome!  And vgnmom made it a million times MORE awesome by making him magnetic!

And then my texture was fuzzy, and she made me this really cute fuzzy bag!  And inside were stowaways! LOL!

I'm absolutely thrilled with everything, and vgnmom is the best!!!  Thanks so much!  You totally made my day!!   Grin

A little frog that my daughter LOVES!

A patriotic candle holder, that will soon find its home in our living room!

A large ready-to-paint sun catcher (DD and I LOVE these!)

Some older crafty books- the green one has some fun projects I think my daughter will enjoy

And then crafty magazines from the 70's!  19 of 'em!!   Shocked

Keep in mind that we did $5 packages!!

Thanks so so so much to thanate!  I think I'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon looking through the magazines!!

Love the dragonfly!!!!  I took a dragonfly pic this past week, but it didn't come out nearly as nice as yours.
Fascinating little buggers, aren't they?  This particular picture was taken for a swap project for RondaS.

I'm hoping to get back out to the Gardens this weekend and take more pictures- hopefully I'll catch the crane that was out there last week. Here's a not too great shot of it:

I'm not new to photography (well, in general!), but I'm trying out new techniques and trying to see things through new eyes so to speak...  Anyhow, here are a few pictures taken in the past week and a half that I am quite fond of.

This is from an entire wall of really fun, cool, artsy stuff at the Edventure Kids Museum in Columbia, SC.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is a hibiscus.  This was taken at Swan Lake- Iris Gardens in Sumter, SC.  I really love pictures of flowers, so this one really got me excited!   Grin

Ok, so it's been one of my goals to get a picture of a cardinal.  And most of the ones I took were HORRIBLE since they were "in flight" pics!  LOL!  Note to self- DON'T TAKE IN FLIGHT PICS!!!   Cheesy  But this guy was walking along the path at Swan Lake- Iris Gardens, and I was able to get nice and close and get a shot!!  YAY!

Lastly, here's one of my husband that I think I'm going to make a stencil out of and have printed on a shirt!  LOL!  All of these pictures were taken using my hubby's camera (which is sooooo nice!) and it has this feature for pictures done in black and white and really saturated...  (I'm not a photo technical term user, as you can tell!), and this picture just really came out quite nice!  It's very comic book like, and that's perfect for my nerdy husband!

Well, that is all for now.  I was trying to take some pictures of our lightning storm last night (I heard that kind of thing is dangerous, but I'm not very good at listening!  LOL!) but they didn't come out  Cry  I'm sure y'all will see more pictures in the near future as I'm discovering how invigorating photography can be  Grin

I just wanted to post a quick teaser pic for RondaS.  My hubby forgot to grab the package on his way to work, so hopefully he'll get home before the post office closes.

Yup, I'm 100% hooked to the LOLCats!  They are just one more thing I MUST look at everytime I hop online!  LOL!

I just wanted to share the pics I took- hope you don't mind bethanyjoyce  Grin  The bag is in both pics, but I wanted to be sure I got both sides in.  I put the Monorail Cat on one side since it's her favorite, and then my favorite kitteh on the other side!

I always to try to make at least one useful item for swaps.  So I thought the spoons would be fun and silly since you can make something "nommy" to eat with them  Cheesy

The earrings are pretty straight forward.

And then the cheeseburger charm...  Made with buttons.  I saw something similiar on Etsy, but someone was selling them as cheeseburger flowers.  I thought the charm (for cell phones, zippers, etc...) would be more useful this way.

20  Curious George Swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by bigfatroses on: May 28, 2008 08:25:57 AM
Thanks to my lovely little daughter, I'm now fully in love with Curious George.  Would anyone else be interested in doing a swap based upon George and his silly antics?  I'm swamped until June, and would like to try my hand at organizing, so if anyone does take an interest in this, maybe we could be good little monkey's towards the July/August time frame.

I was thinking a real easy swap, like one medium and 2 smalls.

Any takers?
