31  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Mini Art Quilt Swap 8 Gallery on: May 03, 2017 06:53:33 AM
I received my MAQ from my lovely partner Immaculata.
She had such a hard time with this quilt. When she embroidered parts of the quilt, that didn't work out and she even had to sew in new hexagons...  Embarrassed She contacted me and our sweet organiser and we agreed she would sent what she had done so far. If I really didn't like it, she offered to sew a new MAQ.

It is pretty and I would have never made me a hexagon quilt myself (I'm more of a handsfree motion, sew on whatever seamstress haha) and I love the theme she chose.
That said, here is my MAQ:

I love all the different parts of the beach: sea, sand, sky and clouds. The hexagons are perfect for this!

ignore the fork, my kids were setting the table for dinner  Tongue

She quilted parts of the sea, the beach and clouds. I love the little grass (I only know the Dutch word: helmgras  Cheesy )

I love the backside fabric too:

The whales are so cute!

I already spoke with Susanne and let her know that I would work on the quilt. I've started already and it is so much fun!
So the way I see it, it is a bonus that I get to work on my own quilt  Cheesy I really appreciate the work she put into it and she tried something new for her, I love that!

Thanks Susanne, I appreciate what you tried and I love my hexagon-quilt. You were brave to try and admit that it didn't work out. I can imagine your frustration working on the quilt, not working out the way you imagined. You did a fab job on the hexagons and I applaud your perseverance (had to google that word haha!)

Dankjewel!  Wink

So cool Lindy!  Thanks for answering  Cheesy

I somehow missed commenting that last package  Huh

grimminspirations Love the doll and the zombie. Did you use fleece? It looks very soft!
That mug is so funny haha! Great pins and so thoughtful to add treats for the dogs! Great package!  Smiley

I love the idea of exchanging human things with our creations...people get empowered when they get to add or take from something because they are allowed to!

It is like swapping here on Craftster. I love that too!
But if you're not crafty or you believe you're not crafty, I encouraged everyone to exchange for whatever, a book, a cd, I have seen a few different things. The kids exchanged bookmarks, a pretty stone, a drawing. It was a lot of fun!
Maybe it is because they are allowed to, kids really see the world in a different perspective.

Craftylittlemonkey, love that someone draw a shooting star! You should always reach for the stars and believe in heart and soul that you ARE a star!

BigBangMomma That bus scarf is amazing! Fun and very lovely!
The pocketletter is fun and filled with little surprises, that makes it more fun! And a stamp, charm and ATC journal, oh my what a package!

Lindy Love the cards you made! With your Silhouette? Did you print and cut?
Love that wood sign (can't think of the right word). Both necklaces are so pretty! I LOVE outlander so much! Sassenach and the dragonfly in amber, I couldn't pick a favourite. Towels, beads, oh you are such a spoiler!  Cheesy

bunny Fantastic shrine! So tiny and detailed, love it! Beautiful tea locket! And a hoop, great work! The card is very pretty!

Audio I love necklace pendants, so creative! The cats sign is fun! Love the paws all over it, haha!

Quaggy Great bag! I have had that exact fabric and made a bag like that too, haha!
The pocket letter is so fun and the ATC's are so pretty. All those little extras inside, love it!
A felt twinchie maker kit, what a thoughtful gift!

gozerOh the zombie sheep are amazing! Handdrawn? Great work!

The phases of the moon magnets are fun, so is the kitty frame.

Chr1stChanLove the sky and the ATC's are great! Also handdrawn? I'm always in awe with such a steady hand! Cute little octopus! You're a fast crocheter, that would have taken me ages to finish haha!

I'll post it now and take another look to make sure I haven't forgotten to comment on a swap package!  Smiley DONE! Wink

38  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Chickens, chickens, chickens mini art quilt on: April 26, 2017 01:18:57 PM
Thanks so much for your lovely comments!  Smiley It is much appreciated!

Kwality, I should try and make a monster art quilt, inspired by your (well actually mine) monster art. I look at it every day, it makes me so happy  Cheesy

Shari, you are always so kind, thanks!  Smiley

Immaculata, I'm so happy that you like it! It really was fun to make. Paperpiecing is my new love and this was a great (not too difficult) pattern to use.
Unfortunately I didn't receive it today. We wlll be leaving tomorrow and since it is Kingsday then we won't get any post that day anyway. I'll be back next week around wednesday. I'll keep you posted about it.

The mistaken one, isn't really that bad but just too much pattern so the attention gets to that and not to the shape of the chicken. Plus it didn't work well with the other colours and patterns of the chickens. It will get used in another project or some other time, I just know.  Wink
39  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Chickens, chickens, chickens mini art quilt on: April 26, 2017 09:04:42 AM
Thank you!

Yes, clm, it would make a pretty potholder. I will leave it for now, inspiration will hit some day when I need a chicken for something I'm creating. Usually it works like that for me.  Smiley
40  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Chickens, chickens, chickens mini art quilt on: April 26, 2017 07:43:41 AM
Thanks ladies!
I used the colours my partner likes most. Glad I have a lot of that in my stash  Cheesy

I adore these chickens! And I enjoy the quirky placement, that's pretty much how higgeldy piggeldy roosting bok boks are in real life Cheesy.
Yes, chickens are totally like that! Catching that in a quilt was a challenge, it are straight lines.

I have to disagree with your assessment of that first piece, I think the colours are GREAT! I hope you will do something with that lonely chicken, I would like to see it finished as a ... something Smiley.
I must admit that seeing it now, it looks more like a chicken than when I had just finished it haha  Tongue It is okay, I will use it for something. Maybe a mini-mini quilt  Grin
I thought it is a good thing to show that mistaking while crafting is part of learning and more than okay!  Smiley
