1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: super colour crochet blanket! - now with square scheme on pg 4 on: December 03, 2005 08:28:12 AM
This is the nicest crochet blanket I've ever seen! And I think you must be the most patient person in the whole world.... I can't imagine sticking with something for that long! And all those little squares... geepers!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: washing a wool sweater?? on: October 16, 2005 02:26:30 PM
For the longest time I handwashed all my wool, and let me tell ya -it was a production!!

But now I wash all my wool in the washing machine... there's a wool setting on my washing machine, so I just use that, then lay it flat to dry... so far nothing has shrunk or been ruined. I just use a liquid detergent, it's a mild one though.

I would say if you're really worried about it, then you should just get it dry cleaned... because it'd be terrible to ruin one of your favorite things! And you'd be kicking yourself I'm sure!

Ahhh....

Part two...

Is there even such a thing as 20cm circular knitting needles?? I can't find anything on the internet. The shortest I can find is 30cm...

Am I crazy??

Thanks!

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / New knitter... silly question! on: October 05, 2005 06:52:13 PM
Hello!

Today I got this crazy urge to make something more then a scarf, so I got a simple book from the library, picked out a pattern and went to the wool store. I seriously don't know *anything* about knitting, so I got the store lady to help me. I started knitting my project when I got home and was having problems on the first line! I'm supposed to be using circular needles, which I got, then join the row together... well this wasn't possible! (or is it?!?) The book calls for 20cm circular needles, but the lady gave me 40cm circular needles... Does she know something I don't? Or did she give me the wrong needles?

Thanks! I hope this makes sense!

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do I make a backpack??!? on: August 26, 2005 10:03:22 PM
Hmm.. that's sounds  like it would be good. I guess I'll just put batting on the straps too.. (but without the plastic..) Okay! I'd really like to start making it this weekend, so I'll be sure to ask more questions/ share the results! Thanks!!

That's a good idea!

How do I make it sturdy though? Should I just use interfacing?? My last attempt at a backpack I used this horrible foamy thick stuff, which just made it bulky and misshapen. Yikes! Should I maybe iron on interface to both the lining and the outside? Is just one layer enough? What about the straps? I feel like they should have some sort of padding or something so they don't cut into my shoulders....
10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / How do I make a backpack??!? on: August 25, 2005 10:38:42 PM
Does anyone have a good pattern for a backpack?? I tried making one once a long time ago and it was a disaster!! I'd like one that's somewhat sturdy, but not too bulky... any suggestions/patterns??

thanks!
