1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Star Wars for mothers day. on: May 14, 2017 05:35:21 PM
This guy was an experiment in playing with scraps. And as soon as the top was done it had a home. The  new owner bought it as a mother's day gift for her kiddo. So she gets all the extra snuggles from a happy boy on mother's day.
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / mini art quilt. Picasso... sesame street... where they meet... on: May 14, 2017 05:30:02 PM
Can you tell me how to get... how to get to sesame street...

Obviously take a left turn at cubism and a right at surrealism...

Mostly made with applique.tho I had to piece the shirt stripes together to keep the solid theme. And the background is a hand dyed I made last year for the Crafster Ontario meet up. (Good eye craftylittlemonkey)

my favourite bit is the picture within the picture.

I printed on fabric a bunch of other images that were in the running to be recreated.so she can swap out spending on her mood.
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / two new baby quilts on: April 06, 2017 09:58:52 AM
Bright and fun! I love making baby quilts

First up is an improv piece from off cuts of a HUGE flying geese fail quilt. Reduce reuse recycle right...

second up is my old go to. Garden Fence. I usually try not to use white in baby quilts. But this one called for it.

Another finish from the amazing ladies of the 9th round of the quilt block swap.

I wasn't sure how I was.going to put these together. And I ended up taking all the blocks apart into the 6x3 "goose" and reassembling them.
To get a good mix of pattern and.colour across the whole.

it's a wee eye crossingly busy. But it's amazing nonetheless.
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / on the plus side on: April 04, 2017 08:03:01 AM
I had a fabric pull last winter that I kept adding calm, low volume fat quarters to. Its not my usual thing.  I threw this together one afternoon (probably to avoid doing something else) and it sat.

I found a ridiculous pink plaid and  this one told me where it wanted to go to live. I delivered it yesterday. To a happy friend.
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / words, words, words on: April 02, 2017 07:59:44 PM
The title of this quilt comes from Hamlet.
The blocks are a collaboration from the lovely swappers in the quilt block swap 9. (As I flicked thru the gallery I realised...  its been tooooo long)

this time I finally made myself do a freemotion quilt technique. Not as scary as I had made it in my head. It's certainly not perfect... but since this one is for me. That's all ok. I am going to hang this in my upstairs "library" space.
7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / super quilt! on: January 31, 2017 05:23:03 PM
I made this as a barter. Free theatre tickets for a superhero theme quilt (for a 60 year old) I think we both win.

alternate title was gotham under siege.  Grin

buildings and sky are pieces traditionally. Super hero logos are 5 inch paper pieced blocks from fandominstiches.com, the rays are applique.
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / bears for Arthur on: December 08, 2016 07:53:24 PM
An online friend from the UK requested this for her grandson. She found the image online and loved it. This is my recreation. Smiley

and a silly little face.
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / nuala wall hanging on: December 08, 2016 07:43:37 PM
This fall a friend and his girlfriend left for an adventure. From Canada to New Zealand. For her birthday he asked if I could make a small representative quilt of the dog she had fallen in love with this summer. But small so it could travel.with them.

I know. Aww.

Here it is in its new home.
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / dark and twisty Drunkards path on: December 08, 2016 07:37:30 PM
Over the past few years I have made quilts for "my kids" at work. Being the only 40 something in a team of early 20's was enlightening and eye opening for sure. Usually one.spoke.to.me while I was making it. Or popped into.my head fully formed for the recipient.

Except for Sara.

One.night after a super late shift. Drinking a bubbly rose on the deck she said the dark and twisty phrase and it came to me. And I had to teach myself how to sew curves

the cats WOULD NOT cooperate. Smiley backed with the most delicious Nightmare Before Christmas fabric.
