Since I haven't had a checkbook or written a check since 2009- PayPal would be my preferred route. I will send a message!

Who wants to do a 6X6 Canvas Art Swap?!!

For this swap you will create a piece of art in any medium you would like. The only constraints on the swap is that the canvas must be 6 inches by 6 inches and be at least 1-2 inches deep. Other than that- you have free reign to create what you want.

To add to the freedom to express yourself in this swap, I think I am going to run it as a secret swap- where you don't get the person's name until a few days before send outs. This way you don't have to worry about catering to someone's preferences and you can create what ever you would like.

If people aren't down with that idea, I am totally cool with running it as a regular swap as well- just let me know what you think!

This is a fabulous gallery - you guys made some beautiful pieces!! I've just been admiring everything Smiley Is there going to be another round sometime?

Yeah! I was thinking of starting another round soon.

Grin I've already started my packing list! Adding my spindle to the list. What about fibers? What do we need to bring?

If you have any roving, that is the easiest to spin with the spindle. I will bring some of my stash along, so don't worry if you don't have fiber.

I would love to show anyone that has a spindle how to spin ( I should probably brush up on spindle spinning since it's been years since I've used one)

As for acrylic pours, if the paint is not too thick- it should dry in 24 hours. Maybe that is something we could do on Friday so it has time to dry before the end of the weekend.

CLM- I am so glad someone else's husband is coming along too!! It was work to convince my husband to come along, but once he heard that Asheville is in the top 3 cities for craft breweries he was instantly in!

I havent read through the entire thread, yet. What airport is the closest? Theres an airport less than 2 miles from me, and it could get me somewhere where I can take a connecting flight.

According to a quick Google search: The closest airport is Asheville Regional Airport (AVL). The second closest is Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), located approximately 1-1.5 hours away. The third closest is Charlotte International Airport (CLT), about 2.5 hours away.

My husband and I are planning on flying into Atlanta and driving up through the mountains to get to Asheville.

Leap, do you ever use a spindle? Lots smaller than a spinning wheel but would still teach the rest of us some of the basic concepts. I'd love to learn anything you can teach, from preparing fleece or other fibers to just basic tools or techniques, what they are, how to choose the tools best suited to an individual, where to find the fibers, tools, and training, etc.

Oh, drop spindles are a great idea! I have a few buried in my fiber stash that I could bring along and that wouldn't take up much space in my luggage.

I was also thinking it would be so much fun to do some dirty cup acrylic pouring with the group. It's my newest obsession and I would love to pass it on!
