52  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Santa brought me a sewing machine for Christmas on: December 26, 2007 10:48:33 AM
I can't tell you much about your particular Kenmore. But, I have had a Kenmore for 10 years now. And, I LOVE it! Back when I got mine, Kenmore and Janome were made by the same company, not sure about that anymore. But Kenmores cost way less than their sister Janomes! Mine has touchpad controls and way more stitches than I ever need. It also gets a pretty good workout as I volunteer sew costuming for both a high school and a middle schoo"s theater companies. So. I'd have to agree to it's sturdiness. I've only taken it in once for a maintenance tune-up and then it was to the repair guy that sets up in my local Jo-Ann's. And, I only did that because I was getting ready to sew my daughter's prom dress after having just finished a huge costume project. I wanted to make sure the machine was in good shape before I started! I think you will find you like it just fine.

Good luck to everybody snaggin your hearts desire in this swap!
54  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: beautiful sparkly ornaments on: November 30, 2007 05:31:10 AM
These are beautiful! I love them! Do you think your friend would mind if I borrowed her idea? I'd love to hang some with ribbon inside my windows. Can you imagine the sparkles that would throw off in the winter sunshine?
55  UNITED STATES / Michigan / Farmington Hills! on: November 29, 2007 06:01:15 PM
Hi all! I just found this site this week! Where have I been? This looks like a great place for inspiration and sharing ideas! I'm in Farmington Hills.

It would be fun to get a group of local crafters together. Perhaps after the holidays we could arrange a meet at a local bookstore or coffee shop. We could all serve as support, inspiration and a sounding board for our crafts.

My main hobby is sewing. I have 3 daughter's and have made many, many formal dresses....from first communion to prom and everything in between. I also sew costumes for my daughter's public school theater productions, dance studio and recently, for my eldest daughter's dance company at WSU.

I also dabble in tons of other things. I can't help myself! Crafting courses through my veins. My dream would be to start some sort of home business. If only there were more hours in the day....I never find enough time to spend with my "projects."

Seeing everybody else's projects here has been both an inspiration and intimidation! There is so much talent on this forum! What a great bunch of crafters!
56  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: McCall's 5137 - the "Duro" dress on: November 28, 2007 06:22:12 PM
The dress turned out beautiful. The color combination is gorgeous. I love brown and turquoise.

Now for my question! Which has nothing to do with your dress. LOL I noticed your dress form! I've been thinking it's time I bought a dress form and wondered what brand yours is and how you like it. That's all.....

Again, the dress is so pretty.....I'm thinking I may like to make one with that patternas well. Good job!
