1  UNITED STATES / Michigan / Re: Haven't sewed in 25 years, need brush up class Detroit/Toledo area... on: October 11, 2009 06:31:16 AM
We have a WONDERFUL store in the Detroit area that offers drapery classes as well as much, much more. Haberman's in Royal Oak. The fabric alone will make you drool.

But, since you live kinda far from there, have you looked into JoAnn. They also offer a plethora of classes, although, I have never taken any there myself. I'm currently taking a pattern drafting class at Haberman.

Wow! It must have been fate that brought me in here tonight!

I was so sad to miss the Royal Oak meet. I can't even remember what happened. I just remember being super busy and then suddenly realizing on Monday, that I'd missed the meet. Dang!

Looks like it was a good meet. Great picture. It's good to have faces for the names!

Anyway, life slowed down a bit and I was cleaning out the craft cave today. Made me itch to craft and logged on here to see what was up! And here you are looking to plan another meet!

I hope to make the next one and I'll think on suggestions for a location. Isn't there a DIY Fair in Ferndale sometime in the fall? I'll have to look into that.

Well, I'm off to reaquaint myself with Craftster!
4  UNITED STATES / Michigan / Re: Anybody up for a Spring Meetup in Royal Oak? on: March 07, 2009 01:33:51 PM
Okay I'm in, but is this a "knitter's thang?" Cause I am not a knitter. I've been to Ewenique with my college daughter who knits. But, I'm afraid yarny stuff is probably the only craft I can't get the hang of. LOL It's one of those crafts I've decided is best left to the pros.

I'll still PM my name and number to AQ. I'd really like to meet up with some local crafters. Whatever their speciality!

Looking forward to a Crafty Tea Party on April 18th. I must confess though, I am feeling kinda old here, you all sound so YOUNG, lucky ducks....not sure what I can "bring" to the party. But, I'm always up to learning new things. SevsOnlyGirl, I hope your Aunt can make it....I may need to talk to her about those Red Hat ladies! LOL

My daughters took me to Creative Arts Studio for my mother's day gift last year. It was a fun day with them. They worked on projuects for me and I made a vase for my mom. It looked like I made it when I was 5. LOL So, I dated it with the year when I was 5.

If you go to their web-site you can see ther merchandise and register for e-mail updates and coupons.

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: Where's your "sewing room"? on: December 19, 2008 01:45:02 PM
I say, move your husbands office AND the tv into the guest room. Then you can take over the living room with your crafting!  Grin Hee hee....

Is there room in your bedroom or kitchen/dining area for a hanging shelf unit with a pull down table surface attached to the front? When it is up it looks like a cabinet front. When it is use, it is a table with shelves above on the wall.

But, I still vote for my first idea!

P.S. I wouldn't mind if you were sewing in the guest room while I was there visiting! Hint! Hint!
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: Clean-Along Its time for a major cleanup and redo- Post Your Own Pics on: December 19, 2008 01:31:21 PM
Quite honestly, I'd rather clean YOUR room than mine! LOL

My 2009 Resolution it to clean, reorganize and destash the Craft Cave. I haven't even begun to see what it lurking in there.  Shocked
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: one sheet, my laundry closet and avoiding finals. on: December 19, 2008 01:24:18 PM
LOL I laughed when sais you were avoiding finals. Because, I have been finding things to do all day to "avoid" wrapping gifts or finishing Christmas cards. Too bad I wasn't feeling clever like you though! You did very well with one sheet. You might say, "That's a lotta sheet in your laundry closet!"

Anyway, dorky fun is just as good as any other kind of fun. For that matter, aren't we crafters just this side of dorky anyway? It's what keeps us crafty. If we thought like normal people, we'd be studying for exams and wrapping our Christmas gifts!
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: Low budget kitchen makeover on: December 19, 2008 01:18:08 PM
Very dramatic! I love it! I had to go back and look at the before picture again to make sure it was the same kitchen!

What kind of paint did you use on the cabinets? I'd love to paint mine, but, I'm so afraid they will "look painted." Yours do not. They look great. You are right, it is a fresh departure from eveyones white or wood cabinets and granite tops. At least that is what EVERYONE I know remodels with. LOL
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: My finished kitchen!!!! Finally! Image heavy!!! on: December 19, 2008 01:12:30 PM
Wow! It is amazing what color will do for a room! It looks so fresh and bright now. BTW, the color looked aqua to me.
