22  My name is Dr. Henry Killinger and this...is my costume entry in Halloween Costumes by DeviSaya on: November 04, 2008 09:00:06 AM
So yah, unfortunately not enough people watch the amazing show that is the Venture Brothers, so only a few of you may know who this is. The character is male, but he is bloody amazing so I decided to go as the female version of this Mary Poppins of evil. The mask is handmade. The jacket is reconned from a massive, white chef uniform (and now i'm in love with it <3). The slippers and bag are also reconned.  My hands were black for a few days after this due to the dye. TO HELL WITH RUBBER GLOVES, I SAY! Enjoy. Smiley

23  Halloween Prep: Henry Killinger ^_^ in Halloween Costumes by DeviSaya on: August 18, 2008 08:29:22 PM
I believe mid august is as good a time as any to start on a halloween costume. Or at least begin brainstorming.

So, so those of you that watch the Ventures will know who Dr. Henry Killinger is. For those that don't know, heres some pictures.

Henry and his magic murder bag:

And I thought the figure gave a good overall few of his costume:

Edit: I want to make a somewhat female version of this getup...I want to make he jacket conform to a female figure, and to have a skirt beneath it much like the pictures here:

I wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions for certain elements of this costume.

If you know of a coat tutorial similar to the one shown here that would be great.

I'll probably do a search for a bag tutorial for something similar to this, but if anyone knows one of one off the top of their head, I'd appreciate a link. Smiley

The mask make prove somewhat difficult for me. I dont want to be completely flat. I want it kind of protruding out like it is for the cartoon and figurine. I would probably use a white mask as a base from a crafts store. Any suggestions on how to build up a relatively smooth surface that I can paint on?

Also the slippers simply thrill me. XD I've seen some cute slipper tutorials on here that I will definitely look more in depth to, but if you are aware of one more suited for my purpose, send it my way please.

And if anything else catches your eye, feel free to let me know. I tend to be a bit self conscious for costumes as I stroll to class in college, but I feel that I must make an exception for this wonderful man. XD And now to search for tutorials *disapears*

25  A Few Ridiculous Earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by DeviSaya on: August 10, 2008 04:48:15 PM
The past month or so I've been on a bit of an earrings trip. Sadly, I only have three pairs to show for it so far. XD The others are on the verge of being done, but I just keep messing up with the painting, sooooooo...we'll see.

First I decided that well....pandas are pretty damn awesome. And whats cooler than a panda? A zombie panda, of course.

Next, a simple cat design that I accidentally did but ended up liking.

Which led to me finishing up one of my initial earrings ideas. ^_^

For those that don't know what the last pair are based on it, this will seem very random. For those that do know, it will seem about as random, me thinks.

I'm new to earring making, so any input is welcome. Does anyone suggest a better paint that acrylics for such work?

26  Re: Dresden Dolls / Punk Cabaret Round 2 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by DeviSaya on: August 10, 2008 11:12:06 AM
Wow, I can't believe how fast this got here. O_O It was a great surprise. ^_^

Nicely wrapped bundles.

An awesome boa with great fabric.

The freakin' cutest little bowler hat.

And some sweet crochet stripey arm warmers.

These wonderous items certainly made some narcissism and Photoshop a must. XD

From RhymeswOrange. Thanks so much! This stuff roooooocks. Mwahaha. ^_^

And of course my computer flips out when I need to post a million pictures....Oh wait....theres a storm outside....Perhaps I should open those blinds some time.....>_> <_< >_>....Pass.

27  'Drink Me' Messenger Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by DeviSaya on: August 04, 2008 07:10:41 PM
My friend asked me to make a bag for her(most likely cause I was broke at the time XD), so this came into being...Much trial and error and plans not going according to...plan. It was just earlier today when I was still convinced that I'd completely screwed it up and that it would look ridiculous. However, after attaching a black strap(opposed to the original purple) and attacking it with fabric paint, I grew quite fond of it. Not sure if I'll go so complex in the future though. Tongue Hopefully she likes it.

28  Disturbingly Joyous Stripey Cat Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by DeviSaya on: July 08, 2008 11:33:47 AM
This stripey tank top fit weird on me, so I decided to make some use of it. I used these two tank tops:

The purple fabric was used from another shirt, but I didn't bother photographing that since it was already pretty cut up from a previous project.

Finished product:

I'm no expert at sewing, but out of laziness and being under the impression that I knew what I was doing, I didn't use a pattern or tutorial. I didn't even cut the cloth into logical shapes. I kind of just did it by eye and worked with it as I went along. Thats the reason its relatively floppy and lopsided looking when held up, the the strap pulls it enough to make it not that noticable. Ramble ramble ramble.

Also, the cat face was inspired, no lie, by the toothbrush holder in my bathroom. Yep.

29  Some Digital Work for 2D Design Class in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by DeviSaya on: July 06, 2008 04:28:26 PM
For my summer class, we mainly worked digitally, which was a nice change. Here is what came of that unexpectedly laid back madness. ^_^

Can't find my koi picture, soooooooooooooooooooooooooo...that's it.

30  Delicious Veiny Pulsating Heart. Nom nom nom in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by DeviSaya on: May 22, 2008 01:18:51 PM
I'm rarely happy about finished products. There's always something way off about it in my eyes. But I really liked how this came out. I guess thats what I get when I say to hell with realism and actually experimented with style. Damn acrylics.

The assigment was to swap skins between two objects. I thought it would be interesting to keep the two objects somewhat related. ^_^
