15  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / first thing I've ever made, ever. on: May 17, 2009 03:23:05 PM
while pinning fabric together, I looked at my pincushion and realized I have never posted it on here before.
It was the first thing I've ever sewed, it's so ugly and poorly hand sewn but I love it anyways.

Sewing needles on one side, pins on the other. I still think it's a cute idea. One of these days, I might make a replica (but better). It's a pain picking this thing up--literally, the pins stab me. Lips sealed

I'm curious to see everyone else's "firsts" that you haven't posted here yet.
Anyone? Cheesy

17  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Coke bottle vase! on: May 15, 2009 10:31:18 AM
I'm not sure where this is supposed to go, but this was my best guess.

I didn't do too much with it, because I couldn't figure out how to get that red Coke label off. Painted the bottom with puffy paint, and picked some flowers off the side of the road. Viola!
Cheesy

18  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Mustard Summer Sling on: May 14, 2009 07:44:39 PM
I LOVE this yarn, I got it from musiclady<33 Smiley When I got it, I looked for the perfect pattern and this is what I found. I finished it last weekend, but I just got around to taking pictures of it today..

full with library books

(avoiding studying)

'scuse BF's sweats.. Roll Eyes

It's lined with an old pillowcase I've had for about 2 years. I wish I would of taken a better picture of the inside, it really does match.. kind of. Tongue And it has a snap closure.

pattern: http://web.archive.org/web/20011226082632/members.aol.com/lffunt/tote.htm

It took one whole ball and a little bit of another of Vanna's Choice. I left out a few rows in the pattern, because I thought it was coming out a little too big, but now I kind of wish I wouldn't have. I didn't use the strap part of the pattern either because I wanted to save yarn and finish sooner. Smiley
19  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / plarn coin bag. on: May 08, 2009 10:09:24 PM
I was looking through my wists and I put up these when I was stilling learning how to crochet.. and decided I could so make them now. So I did Cheesy Mine is a lot different, and I still like the one on my wists better, but I'll deal for now.
I used Dollar General and Bilo plastic bags. I would of made it a tiny bit bigger, but I ran out of yellow because I only had one bag Cry

snaps! Grin

My hand sewing needle snapped in half when I picked it up, so I had to super glue felt to these instead of sewing it(NOT recommended. Super glue on felt is not pretty, it gets all white and crusty. yuck)
20  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / wear your heart on your pillow. on: May 08, 2009 09:51:18 PM
That was cheesy, but whatever. Smiley About 10 minutes after eating breakfast, I started on this beaut.. just out of boredom, it kept me occupied most of this morning. I was inspired by some pillows I saw on here the other day.

I stand on picnic tables, and I have sausage feet.

I stuffed the heart a little bit before sewing it all together, I really like how that made it look. The only thing I would change about this, is the placement of the heart, I wish I would of moved it just it a liiiiittle further from the edge. I didn't think when I stuffed it that it would move my heart. Der.
I'm planning on making others, so next time I'll know Wink I ended up giving this to my (pretty much) dad's girlfriend. She liked it Smiley I like it.

ETA: I forgot to say, it's all hand sewn! I'm so proud Cheesy I don't miss my broken sewing machine at all. (still trying to convince myself, obviously.)
