1  'The Lost Boys' Cupcakes, ect in Dessert by astr0zombie on: March 24, 2009 06:23:55 PM
I'm going through a baking stage right now. (which isn't helping the fact I have to fit into a bridesmaids dress in 3 months!) But on the flip side, I am becoming ever so popular at work, because my co-workers get to taste test my creations the next day. Hah.

These first ones are known as the "Lost Boys" by friends & family. (Those who have seen that old Peter Pan movie "Hook" will know why)

80's anyone? The insides of these were black and pink. The white zig-zag is white chocolate.

Ninja Turtles, perhaps?

Annnd these are mini-cupcakes. The cake part is mixed with cream cheese frosting and just plain ole vanilla. They are coated in white chocolate instead of icing. I'm excited to experiment with these a little more.

Hey Guys...
As a make-up artist, my first and foremost love is of course, make-up!
I felt inspired over the summer to create something as an ode to crafting, my second love.
So this is my beautiful sister, Melissa, modelling my PIN-CUSHION inspired make-up

comments & crit appreciated!

3  Family of Deer, Goldfish, & The White Rabbit (Nature Anyone?) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by astr0zombie on: January 26, 2009 08:34:39 PM
More shrinky dink creations.

My family of Deer... I'm going through a deer phase right now. They are actually much more vibrant in color in real life. Blast my camera.

I made myself one as well, and put it on a ribbon for a necklace.

I completely love this picture of a goldfish, so he's going to go on my keychain. He's slightly sparkly.

White rabbit pendant!

Thanks for looking! Feedback is appreciated.

4  Marilyn, Audrey, and Owl! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by astr0zombie on: January 15, 2009 11:36:08 PM
Here are a few pendants that I made this evening. I'm definately loving shrinky-dink at the moment.

This is the "I heart Marilyn" Pendant. (Laser-Jet Shrinky Dink paper)

This guy is Joey the Owl, he was hand drawn... he's on an almond colored paper.

My favorite picture of Audrey Hepburn. (Laser-Jet Shrinky Dink paper)

Thanks for looking!

5  Shrinky Dink Rings Pt.II [IMG heavy] in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by astr0zombie on: January 14, 2009 10:21:23 PM
Night II. Starting to get the hang of shrinky-dink.

This piece has 5 hand drawn owls, all staring at eachother with bewilderment. My sister had that image of an owl kicking around, not too sure where it came from, but I do love it, so I modified it into ring form.

Okay, so as you can see, the question mark is backwards. Well me being the brainiac that I am, didn't quite piece together the puzzle, and realize that I had to draw the question marks in backwards. Next time!
Not entirely happy with this one.

Thanks for looking!
Feedback would be great.

6  Love Birds & Skulls in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by astr0zombie on: January 13, 2009 10:22:38 PM
After taking a little hiatus from crafting, I'm now back in, full force. To get the ball rolling, I decided to try shrinky-dink for the first time. After much trial-and-error, and failed attempts, I ended up with these two rings:

7  Star Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by astr0zombie on: February 23, 2008 11:35:25 PM
So this was my second attempt at making a purse. Fortunately this time I had a functioning sewing machine so none of this one was done by hand, thank god!
I love this material, so bright and colorful. I made this one for my sister for her birthday.

Close up of the material. I added a little star charm onto the zipper

Front (My cats are so ridiculous and curious, if I'm trying to do something, they are trying to annoy me. So naturally, they're hanging around when the pictures are being taken)

inside, nice big pockets!

8  'Owl' in the Family Multi-pocket purse [img heavy] in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by astr0zombie on: February 17, 2008 04:54:36 PM
I'm one of those gals who loves to have a gigantic purse, but hates having to rifle through it looking for my phone or bank card (lack of pockets). I'm really loving all the owls that I'm seeing lately, and decided to take matters into my own hands.
So I dug out my "good" ole sewing machine. She wasn't so "good." She didn't work and I ended up sewing about 90% of this darn thing by hand. After much cursing and urges to throw her out the window- I was pretty darn determined to have it done for the weekend. So what should have been a 3-4 hour project, turned into a week-long project. But it's ok because I'm happy with the final result!

and more detail of the owl pockets. great for lighters and phones.
the insides of these pockets are lined.

the inside, with pockets along the sides.

baby owl on the side.

after all was said and done I added an owl charm to the zipper

whew! thanks for looking!

9  Sparrows in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by astr0zombie on: January 31, 2008 08:13:15 PM
This was my weekend project. I was flipping through old Warped Tour magazines and I found these birds. I love birds.

The base is polymer clay and the cut-outs are just glued on and then varnished over. I'm thinking of coating it in resin, to make a super shiny, smooth top. My boyfriend thinks it's big and tacky, but if you know me, you know I LOVE anything big and tacky.
