1  finally! The poppy-skirt! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kynshiri on: November 14, 2010 08:04:42 AM
I had this poppy-scarf in my previous topic and mentioned that I was going to make a skirt in the same way... so finally here it is!

the skirt is made out of wolen fabric so I lined it completely. I even was patient enough to hand sew the the lining on to the zipper!

and this one is the same pattern but not lined

3  dress and scarfs, some things i've been playing with... in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kynshiri on: October 09, 2010 12:24:33 AM
I had this idea that I wanted to do something with poppies...and i like free style embrodery, so I gave it a try... worked out really nice I think. I'm thinking about making a miniskirt with the same flowers on the bottom.

Then I have an other scarf... I mixed and matched the colors and materials and desided I wanted to make something out of those things. it became this scarf and i like it, yet there's something that is bothering me and I can't put my finger on it  Undecided
someone with an opinion??  Tongue

and last but not least I made another retro dress. I found this fabric in a second hand shop and I just had to buy it  Grin i wanted to give the dress a little extra by adding orange accents. I also took an orange zipper for that reason, but again I'm a bit doubty iff that was the right choice  Roll Eyes

and one of the fabric !

4  ready for fall moeha! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kynshiri on: September 22, 2010 12:21:20 AM
scarf n 1 is covered with wool. and its a giant scarf, so I spend quite some hours sewing the wool on it  Shocked

N2 is handpainted an is kind of an all round thing... you can use it as a scarf, but also as a top/skirt of even a maternity band. the painting was more like a try out actually...

n3 is a round scarf that fits 2 or 3 times round your neck...quite simple

and then, another fall-project! I made a sort of gilet/vest wich is actually really simple, but in looks very original (I think)
They are made in wolen fabric and I think it is exactly what you need when it is not really warm outside anymore, but also not really the weather for warm sweaters yet... The gilet just covers your lower back and shoulders.

and a larger one

10  reversable hoodie and fleecevest *reloaded pictures!* in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kynshiri on: October 31, 2008 03:24:37 AM
reloaded the pictures for the tutorial ---->

*TUTE*

note: make sure your serger or sewing machine will go trough at least 5 layers of fleece, otherwise you won't get there...

Just take a basic pattern of a sweater or hoodie an cut up the front part like this:

I numbered the pieces (hope you can read that). you will have to cut 1x nr 1, 1x nr 2 and 1x nr 2+3.
I'm gonna make this one with a zipper, so I only needed a little extra fabric where the zip would come, but make sure you add enough at the side where you're buttonholes are going to be when you are going to use buttons! tadaa...

the rest of the pattern is just a basic sweater model...and this is what your collar should look like. make sure you put the GOOD sides facing each other when you us two different colors like I did!

you'll also need some long pieces like this...

ok, so let's start to put it togetter... I did the colored edges at the sleeves and front part etc first

pin the two left frontpannels togetter and then sew them. start at the top end turn at the point from where you want to leave the pocket open. It should look triangly...

ok now put you're sweater togetter. i finish of the sleeves like this so it looks clean. tye a knot in the end of the treads and cut of the rest... (ignore this when you're not using a serger)

sew and turn your collar do not forget to sew the arrow along with it if you want an arrow to come out of your collar

Put in the zipper or the buttonclosing (do not forget to put a piece of non stretching fabric or that thing you have to iron on (dunno how you call that in english) if you are going to make buttonholes in stretchy fleece!!).I used a clip for the collar this time...I took some leftovers of the purple fabric to make the ribbons.

Result:

and again:

do not use this pattern to make stuff to sell! personal use only
