1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Project suggestions for long trip on: February 13, 2008 06:42:02 PM
So I'm going on a retreat this weekend, and the bus ride to/from is about an hour to an hour and a half, and there'll be a lot of downtime over the weekend.  I plan to usee the downtime to crochet.

Any project ideas?
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / best way to embroider a design on sc? on: February 07, 2008 07:06:18 PM
I wasn't sure where to post this, but I figured I'm trying to put a design on crochet.

I'm making my bf a pair of gloves in sc.  They're blue, and I want to sew the NY Mets logo on them.  However, a lot of times when I try to sew on a design, it looks funny :/

I really want these to look good, is there any kind of stitch I should be using? Huh
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Anyone know of any interesting craft/art news stories? on: February 01, 2008 08:47:41 AM
I have to create a blog for one of my classes, just posting about news stories and happenings of a topic that interests us.  Naturally, I chose crafting/art/writing type stuff.  If anyone happens across something interesting relating to the topic, would you be able to PM me the link, or post a reply in here?  Thanks so much Smiley
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / what to make a boyfriend for valentines? on: January 29, 2008 07:07:55 AM
So I want to make something for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day, but I'm not sure what to make.  It's our second Valentine's together, and I want to make something nice that's not girly.  Any suggestions?
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Questions about craft fairs on: January 26, 2008 09:53:57 AM
So I plan to participate in my first craft fair at my town's craft fair in October.  I figure if I start making things on and off now, I should have a good stock by then.  My questions are:

-how much stuff should I have in general?
-what types of things do you think people would buy in Oct?  would it be too early for scarves/hats?
-would it be okay to have scarves/hats AND jewelry type stuff?

thanks so much Smiley
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / my afghan's all slanty :( on: January 25, 2008 07:58:35 AM
I'm making an afghan from a graph that I made, and I'm working from the right side on each row, cutting the yarn when I get to the end of the row and re-joining it at the start of the row.  However, the pattern's slanting to the right a lot.  is there anything I can do to fix this, or will it look okay once the whole thing's done?
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / starching/stiffening on: January 23, 2008 03:10:27 PM
I'm making some earrings right now, and the pattern says to soak them in starching solution and let them dry.  Trouble is, I've never starched anything, and I don't know what to use, like if there's anything out there better then others, or if I might be able to get some general stiffening advice?  The earrings are crochet thread with seed beads.

Thanks! Smiley
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Help with lining? on: January 17, 2008 07:10:05 PM
I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on lining things like wallets and purses?  I tried lining a small changepurse I made, but it didn't come out as well as I'd hoped.  Should I line before or after I seam it?  are there any specific techniques or materials I should use?

thanks  Smiley
