1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / HELP! Making fiberglass parts inside of plaster molds. on: January 05, 2009 04:12:58 PM
My husband is making fiberglass motorcycle parts and he is using a plaster mold. The mold was made by pouring plaster over the outside of the original piece that was coated in corn oil and then popped out. Worked great, inside is perfectly smooth after spraying it with a simple clear coat.

Now... He tried to make his first fiberglass part by laying all of the fabric soaked in resin inside the plaster mold. As he took the part carefully out it stuck and ripped apart the inside of the mold. Can anyone give him any tips? Maybe a different type of mold release? He originally spent a lot of money on a little can of silicone mold release but the corn oil worked better. Any ideas or help at all?

.... I would love to tell him and his buddy that a bunch of women came up with the solution that they themselves have been trying to figure out for almost a month.
2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / "Double Click, Inc" and PeerGuardian 2 blocks Craftster on: November 11, 2008 07:51:03 PM
I use a very common firewall/popup blocker/whatever you want to call it named PeerGuardian 2. Whenever I go to craftster only the background shows and nothing else. I checked to see if PG2 was blocking something and it said Double Click, Inc. Is this the new advertising that craftster is using and what access are they having to my computer since I have to turn off my protection just to get on craftster?
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Promotional Packets on: May 04, 2008 09:34:38 PM
Even months after I've finished a craft swap I still think about my partner every once in awhile. Do you think it would be fine to send them a random promotional packet? Would this be considered "junk mail" to you? I would love to receive something like this from a fellow crafter but not so sure about everyone else.

I would send things like:
a couple of my business cards
marble magnet with my logo on it
pen with my name on it
customized business paper clip
*something personal for that person, like a charm of a fish (if they liked fish) or whatever. Just to show it was personally put together for them.

Do you think this would be taking advantage of having someone's home address and personal information?

2. Please bookmark this thread and post here. All updates will be made here and this will help you to keep up with everything.
3. I will give detailed feedback (other than positive/negative) if any of the following apply:
-  Great Swapper: For those who follow all the rules.
-  Good/poor communication:  Went above or below the call of duty to keep the organizer informed.
-  Sent late/early: Three or more days late or early.

Things happen: if for any reason you need an extension, please let me and your partner know via PM. That way I will know that you are not flaking and you will not receive negative feedback.

Once I've been informed of the first person to have received, I will create a gallery for you to post photos in. Please take photos of your earrings before you send to your partner just in case something comes up and they can't take pictures.

6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Almond oil replacement? on: January 11, 2008 06:43:56 AM
I have a recipe where the only two liquid ingredients are vitamin E oil and almond oil. Are there any other items I can use instead of almond oil? I would hate to go to the store and buy a bottle when I only need 2 Tbsp. How about olive or canola?
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Martini Madness on: December 23, 2007 12:10:42 PM
In the beginning of February I want to have a martini party with a few girls. The thing that started this off is all of the recipes floating around for infused vodkas. The only ideas I have so far are:

Starting in the middle of January- infusing about 5 different flavors of vodka
Having about 20 recipes to mix and drink throughout the night
Getting a ton of glasses from goodwill that we can decorate and use (let them take home)
Having little bottles of each flavor of infused vodka for them to take home

Any ideas on decorating, food and activities?Huh
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Sending early? on: December 22, 2007 09:04:20 PM
I've read so much on swapping but can't find this answer anywhere. There are so many swaps starting in January that I want to join but since I've never done it before I need to get my first one in soon. My question, when I sign up for my first swap is there any rule about sending my package out within days or do I have to wait until the send-out date?

I'm not saying my first swap item will be crap, I don't have a job and I don't have kids so my days are filled with nothing but me-time and can get it done early.
9  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / When using E6000....... on: December 18, 2007 10:52:22 AM
I'm gluing earring backs to some little clay flowers I made, however on the back of the tube it says to put a bit on the object and put a bit on the earring back then wait 5 minutes then press together. Do you guys actually wait or do you put a bit on the earring back and press it on then set aside to dry?
10  UNITED STATES / Indiana / Michiana on: December 12, 2007 09:08:50 AM
Hi everyone! For all of you in northern indiana you'll know what Michiana is. I'm in Elkhart, a housewife, 28, and would love to do coffee some time (unless this ice storm gets us). PM me. This is one of the few boards we can talk about "lake effect snow" and everyone will know what we're talking about.
