1  COOKING / Dessert / Pirate birthday cake =) on: November 13, 2011 01:33:26 PM

My nephew was 4 this weekend, and he wanted a pirate birthday party. To help out I made the cake, a pirate ship of course Smiley

It's a dence chocolate cake (to make construction easy) frosted with chocolate frosting, and the sea is jelly with foodcolouring and gummy crocodiles in it Smiley

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Jamie Oliver Pass It On swap on: February 10, 2009 11:07:36 PM
Hey, sorry I was short in the first post, I had to run Wink

I think it should be within the swap group and with a time limit, just like a regular swap, and probably should involve some kind of crafting, like decorating or something.. havn't reallly thought it all through I guess Wink

The pass it on thing is Jamie Olivers way of teaching people to eat 'real food'.. to cook home cooked meals, to eat vegetables, to live longer. He started out in a small town, teaching 8 people how to cook simple meals over  a period of time, he had weekly classes for them. Then, after each class the students were to 'pass on', teach, 2 friends that recipy, and then they had to teach 2 people the recipy, and so on. So my thought is, maybe we can pass on a recipy to a few people on craftster and see what happens Wink

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Jamie Oliver Pass It On swap on: February 10, 2009 12:01:15 PM
How about a jamie inspired swap? He's been "passing on" the art of cooking in rotherham, UK, and I think it could be great fun. The idea is you pass on a recipy to 2 others, and they pass it on to 2 and so on.. could go as far as people want  Smiley

I think the art of cooking and eating healthy is so important. The fast food/ready made/jars are taking over, and we can't let it happen!

9  COOKING / Dessert / Birthday cake :D on: January 11, 2009 04:29:30 AM
It was my bfs birthday yesterday (26! yay! Cheesy), and he wanted what we call a marzipan cake. It's kind of a norwegian tradition.
It's a sponge cake (pretty tasteless in it self) in 3 layers with fruit, whipped cream, and custard inside, and a layer of marzipan over the cake.

I made his cake with frozen raspberries in the whipped cream, chocolate mousse, and frozen raspberries between each layer Smiley Then i painted the marzipan with gel food colouring and pearl dust.. it came out pretty girly, but he liked it anyway.. like he said.. it's cake! Cheesy:D

10  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Cinnamon Roll trouble... on: September 22, 2008 07:21:45 AM
my mom taught me a great trick when making cinnamon rolls!
Our filling is made up of sugar, cinnamon and butter, and with that filling the bottom always goes crunchy 'cause the filling runs out when the butter melts, and it caramelizes (sp?).. but if you put a tablespoon of flour in the fillling, it wont run out, and the buns taste waaaay better cause you have more filling in there!
