11  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / The elusive Green Goomba Shoe appears! on: October 19, 2009 09:29:37 AM
From the MarioWiki: A Goomba's Shoe (previously known as Kuribo's Shoe) is a large, green-colored boot with a wind-up key sticking out of the back of it; it is also one of the rarest of all the power-ups in all of the Mario series.

The green Goomba Shoe makes only 1 appearance throughout the Mario games in Super Mario Bros. 3, Level 5-3 Skyland.  See a video of it's amazing capabilities in action here!  (at 0:25)

When I first played Mario 3, I had no idea you could sit in the shoe for a ride!

Boot-er luck next time, Goomba!  (props to the bf for thinking up the hilarious caption  Cheesy)

All is forgiven-- we can share the boot!  Over the weekend I sewed on 2 very tiny yellow buttons for Mario's overalls, but forgot to re-take the pictures!

Mario: 4.5"
Goomba: 2"
Green Shoe: 4"

These were made with my own crochet pattern.  I didn't write any of it down though, I am really terrible at writing patterns!

I scribbled a quick Mario background to take some photos, haha!  I hope you enjoyed them!  Any comments (good/bad/suggestions) would be appreciated  Smiley
12  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Super Mario Piranha Plant Scarf **PATTERN ADDED!** on: October 12, 2009 09:30:48 AM
Hi everyone!  Thanks for all the nice comments!  I can't believe it was featured on Geekologie!

I've added the pattern for the green pipe to clarify a few things   Smiley

Katiebread, yes it's a SC border, and I've added a picture to outline the rows of the scarf and the type of crochet stitch used for each one.  I hope that was helpful, please let me know if I should add anything!

I added the pattern today for anyone that wants it!   Grin

Thank you everyone for the nice comments!

Is the plant's head crocheted seperate and then attached to the pipe?   good job!!
Yes it's a separate piece, I can write a pattern for it and the leaves too if anyone wants to try this out.  Just say so if you're interested  Wink
15  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Super Mario Piranha Plant Scarf on: September 29, 2009 10:43:40 AM
Hi everyone!  Here's another Mario related project of mine...actually I just noticed that the only projects I've posted here are Mario inspired!  I saw a project similar to this one on Ravelry and just had to have a go at it.
This is a Piranha Plant scarf that I made for my bf's younger sister.  She's either a Junior or Senior in high school.

Our apartment kind of has a Mario theme going on...even the bathroom's decorated!

I'm kind of worried that she's too cool to wear this out.  Geek Chic is in though, right?  That kind of sucks if you're a real nerd-- because that's not cool.  It's only cool if you're pretending  Tongue

I used Lion Brand Jiffy Solids.  Originally I doubled up on the yarn when I made the green pipe, but it came out too thick and stiff.  So I started a 2nd green pipe without doubling up and it turned out soft and cozy.

Here is the pattern for the Piranha Plant itself for those who want to have a go at this.
Please do not resell the pattern or the finished product, thank you!

**pattern removed, long story.  please pm if you'd like me to email it to you!**
16  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Mario Brothers Fire Flower on: August 20, 2009 09:16:03 AM
What do you say, WolfDreamer?  Got an extra room that needs decorating?   Cheesy

I'm going to make this fire flower right when I get home!  Keep up the amazing work and as always, thank you so much for sharing!

Hahaha, that video is too great!  At the end where the mini-fridge falls out of the tree is perfect.
18  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Yoshi Netbook Sleeve on: August 06, 2009 09:07:54 AM
Hi everyone!  Over the weekend someone asked if I could make a Yoshi netbook sleeve for their gf.  I didn't really know how to go about doing that, but I think it turned out okay?  I used vinyl on the outside and pink polka dot fabric on the inside.  They didn't have a bright green vinyl at the store, so I had to use a forest green for Yoshi...

Yoshi and an apple

Close up of Yoshi

Close up of apple with yellow apple print ribbon

Back of netbook sleeve

Close up of egg

Inner lining

Please let me know what you think!  I really hope the recipient is happy with the outcome.  I also made her a giant pillow in the shape of Yoshi's egg   Smiley

this is brilliant!! i think you should further the theme...a mario room would be AWESOME
Actually I am planning my next project already!  It's going to be something similar to those "beaded curtains" you hang in front of a door.  But these will hang in our apartment window, and instead of beads, I'm going to string 8-bit Mario coins...haha!
