1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Lilah ~ almost as light as a feather on: July 31, 2011 11:24:31 AM

My first real lace shawl   Smiley ~ knitted with hand-dyed merino lace yarn following knitty's instructions for "Lilah" in size L:

the shawl:

~ blocking was essential. and despite its transparency it is shielding a summer night's chill very nicely.

and some close-ups:

Happy knitting!

Here is the awesome package i received from Deece. Thank you, thank you, thank you  Kiss  Grin
~ this is going to be very pic-heavy...

first up, the whole package, before unraveling

colorful rainbow~y goodness all over  Grin

... first up my lovely new project bag, made of the most adorable sheep/knitting themed fabric:

beautiful from whatever angle you look at it:

... and beautifully lined.

Next up, my absolutely gorgeous owl~y craft apron. i squealed when i first saw it. it has purpl~y straps and binding, and like every item i received it is beautifully crafted:

... it fits perfectly and i love LOVE love it  Smiley

Deece made me an EXTRA crafted item. She made me this aboslutely jaw-droppingly awesome crochet hook clutch:

Grin the zippered pouch that is included is simply perfect for crafting use.

as an extra-EXTRA Deece sent me this lovely fabric in co-ordinating colors, these are some of my all time favorite colorways... pinks and greens mixed with beautiful contrasting colors. my partner stalked me really really well  Cheesy

AND i also received this lovely lovely handspun / hand-dyed wooly YARRRRN:

... and here's everything squeezed into one pic:

the craftswomanship that went into all the items i received is truly amazing. and the colors and styles couldn't have been more in tune with my likes. un-wrapping the package was so much fun, and i can't wait to use all the goodies i received.

This swap was so much fun for me. Thank you, Deece!  Smiley

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Rainbow Zebra Motley *picture overload!!!* on: April 09, 2011 06:51:24 AM
after completing my first motley, which was pretty much rainbow all over, i recently knitted another one. i'd call the colorway of this one "rainbow zebra": one skein of whitish yarn, one skein of dark grey to off-white, and one skein of rainbowy yarn.

i altered the pattern by starting out with 18 instead of 15 triangles. as a result i ran out of yarn and had to finish with leftovers, odds and ends. nevertheless i'm rather pleased with the result ... despite its size the shawl behaved rather nicely in front of the camera, so here comes an overload of pics of it ~ hope you enjoy, and happy knitting everyone!  Smiley

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: <3 Technicolor Dreamcoat <3 ***more pics!*** on: March 05, 2011 10:39:25 AM
Thank you all, you are the sweetest! ~ i am well and happy happy happy my new fo made it to the march featured knits list  Smiley

~ btw, i *love* the idea of a knitted x-mas tree skirt!

... and i promise i'll try and get a better (daylight) action shot for you soon.

The shawl is very comfy! lucky me... i actually like to wear wool  Cheesy

in the meantime a brief spree into color theory:

... the "value" of the colors used... although i assembled the panels without this actual knowledge, i plan on making use a lot more of color theory in my knitting soon!

And *in the good spirit of wordwide craftiness* i'll always be happy to share the actual origin of my projects + useful info that i found out about myself Wink
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: <3 Technicolor Dreamcoat <3 ***more pics!*** on: February 27, 2011 11:19:04 AM
Thank you! ~ *sending lots of crafty love back out to you all*  Smiley

MizzKodak, the pattern is from one of the little vogue knitting book(let)s... SHAWLS on the go! (pm me, if you can't find it on amazon or elsewhere!)
~ i think it should be possible to modify the pattern so as there is no cable in the center of the panels ~ increases are made by yarn overs to the left and right of the center stitches. all you needed there would be a rather sturdy alternative for the center stitches!
