102  Marvel's Black Cat (Felicia Hardy) in Costumes: Completed Projects by smashu on: March 04, 2009 12:46:08 PM
I made this from scratch, minus the underbust corset:) There are a few variations of her outfit but I like this one the best so I tried to stay true to form. I love being a superhero lol Also, I actually used spirit gum to glue the mask to my face. It retrospect, wasn't the best idea lol

103  Re: Repo! The Genetic Opera! (The SWAP!) Signups Feb 17-March 7 sendouts March 31 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by smashu on: February 28, 2009 10:03:35 AM
So, with me working with so many different casts over the years, to say, That Repo:Genetic Opera is here forever!!!! It is saying a lot!

Also, to have transitioned my 3 kids age ranging 16, 14, 9 (all of them are damn close to their next bday) from being Rocky fans to die hard Repofreaks! I'd say I am doing my part! LOL

Okay seriously, I wish you were my mom. Or my big sister at least. hahahah! I am totally jealous of your ausome life of championing epic musicals! And rock operas of course:)

I was a late bloomer on the Rocky Horror front, watching it that is. Weirdly enough, the actual soundtrack was one of the first cds I ever listened to. When my parents first bought a cd player, right when the players were starting to become something that people were buying for their homes, they got a really random array of stuff to play. Being as I was young and there were no kids inspired tunes, I grabbed up the few that had the coolest colored artwork on them and sure enough RH was at the top LOL

Repo though, is another story. I heard about it long before they were done making it and was ravenous to see. They actually shot it in Toronto where I live, which is AUSOME! They premiered in in Quebec for the Canadian Release but soon after we had the Toronto release at the big horror movie festival here and it was AMAZING! We got to chat to Terrence that night and he came to hang out in a pub afterwards with alot of the audience & the costume designer, sf/x artist, various smaller cast members, etc did a q & a. It was brilliant! They also did the wide theatre release here so they had special events every night with q&a's, props (the pavi masks and blind mag's cloak) and a zydrate bar. God, I love this city! Smiley

The shadow cast does indeed switch gender roles, though I think a few of the roles are static. The Repo Man last night was a woman, as well as Rotti! It was extremely clever and amusing, I'm insanely impressed with them. Yay! I can't wait to do this swap...

The Genterns are two of the most ausome girls who have made the shadow cast the amazingness that it is (I'm Amber lol):

104  Valentino Style Bow Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by smashu on: February 10, 2009 06:14:19 PM
I've ended up already mading a few of these for presents in various materials because everyone loves them so much! This one is for my best friend's belated xmas present. Styled after the beautous Valentino Bow Purse and made in Shantung, lined with a thicker upholstry material for stability. Two pockets inside.

The outer bow portion works so that you can fit your wrist through in a pseudo wristlette style:)

105  Secret Xmas Suprise: Nightmare Before Christmas [bit image obese] in Winter Holidays by smashu on: January 24, 2009 11:31:41 PM
I decided for my parents xmas present this past year I would, with the help of my trusty little bro, strip all xmas paraphenalia from the living room and do it all Nightmare Before Christmas! All in secret of course, after our parents had gone to sleep on xmas eve.. You do need to know that my parents actually like NBC alot and do have random paraphenalia around the house but they were never expecting anything like this to happen! I made everything from scratch:)

^Mini coffins made with old illustrated calendar pages

^I did 12 of these I think, made of felt and I painted the actual black lines making his face with acrylic.

1-Polymer clay Jack Skellington heads, I did 30 each with different expressions and mounted them on a large satin ribbon bow and felt base. 2-A man eating plan to add with the pointsettas, drool included!

I made 4 stockings, one for each kid in my family (Mine is the Sally one lol) completely on my own design. I had so many compliments, people wanted me to sell them! lol I used a quilted cotton base with felt for the characters themselves and a cotton lining. More detailed shots (I apologize about the images being so dark, my camera busted while I was visiting so I had to use someone else's):

107  Zombie Cheerleader in Costumes: Completed Projects by smashu on: January 24, 2009 10:33:04 AM
I made a costume based on my idea of a vintage cheerleader that had been "done" by the football team, and by done I mean eaten alive. lol I made all the bite marks from scratch, it took me hours but it was very worth it:D I love being a zombie! The costume was originally made for a huge interactive event we filmed where I was one of three main zombies and we had 15 makeup artists and clothing donated and the general public could come in off the street and perform for a scene or two granted they signed a release form. It was a WILD sucess, we had over 30 thousand people show up many of which performed and many more that observed and played the public amidst the zombie invasion. Amazing night. I used my costume again for the Zombie walk too:)

Its' pretty amazing, for any of you that haven't heard of it, check out Zydrate Anatomy the music video is on youtube:) The movie was released this week on bluray and last week on dvd! There were a ton of Repo screenings here because the reaction from the public was so amazing so the second screening I attended, I ended up making an Amber Sweet costume:)
