51  Re: Tea Towel Tour 3-T3- Rise of the Tourists in The Swap Gallery by ritapizza on: May 08, 2008 11:15:54 AM
Thank you everyone in All Squared Up! I love you all for your beautiful stitching on my towel! *hugs* I heart everything!

My towel is complete and back home!

Sorry it's not ironed yet and I only had time to take some quick pictures. I'll take better pictures for you all when the sun comes out Cheesy Believe me, all the stitching looks super fabulous in person!

First stop was Canada with DancingBoots' beautiful bluebird!

So pretty! perfect composition!

Then a hop over to Alberta to rectangel and her lovely bees and flowers!

The blended thread really makes a difference in creating a soft look for the delicate bee wings and flower petals!

Then a skip back to the states to Minneapolis to millik and her pegasus and chatty daisy flower!

The pegasus' hair and tail are actually stitched with verigated red-orange thread! That's so flaming hot!

Then a jump over to Sewsew-a-Gogo in Kansas and her cutey bee!

She's the fastest stitcher I know! And it's always so perfect! I still adore his little teeny hands! Smiley

Then a leap to Texas to CraftyMcGluestick's awesome dragon!

Wow! the size of this guy amazed me! very impressive! I love him so Smiley

All Squared Up, thanks so much again! I love love LOVE my things with wings towel!! I will proudly display it in my house and treasure it always Cheesy Thank you!!!!

My last towel is DancingBoots' super awesome towel!

Those are supposed to be pancakes he's flipping onto the plate!
This cutie was derived from a pattern I found on hoop love posted by doe-c-doe.

details details!

I love using blanket stitch in unexpected places. And I avoided doing satin stitch this entire tour until now! I don't know how you all do satin stitch so well. I had to add little pink dots to tack down the satin stitch because it was very loose, but I like how it turned out Smiley

DancingBoots, your towel is one of my favorites of this tour because all the designs work so well together! It's coming home to you now!

Wow sunspotted! Your ambulance stuffie for quilted is fantastic! I'm inspired to make one for my cousin's baby Smiley

Sorry for the late pic post, but I was having problems with uploading photos, so I caved and signed up with flickr Grin

First up, a beautiful tote bag from girlosun_9. Isn't is lovely? The brown fabric is really beautiful with a little pink star pattern and the lining is a lovely shade of pink. My favorite part of course is the delicate embroidered flowers. Thanks so much, girlosun!!

And I loved everything I received from AsphaltQueen! she is indeed queen of awesome OWS swap packages!!
Recycled sari silk yarn, the colors are absolutely gorgeous, (sorry you can't tell from the picture Sad) I've been having fun knitting it up in different patterns trying to decide which one I like best for a shawl/wrap type thing

I adore every one of these charms! especially the bird with the branch in its beak and the keys and owl beads Smiley

And a very special surprise ~~~> my name in scrabble letters! it's craftster art for my cube! how awesome is that! I love the wood burned flower vine on the red wooden bead and the giant key that balances on my name, and on the far right is a heart with a charm that says "create"~ love it!

She packaged it in a handmade paper box and the lid has cute little gnomes all over it! so super cute! *must* find more of that paper Smiley
And here it is "in action" (hehe~! Grin) on my second PC at work

I can't say it enough but thank you AsphaltQueen!!!

(Sorry, mimiw, I still haven't received your package yet Huh It's so odd because you sent before everyone else! Undecided I'm looking out for it every day  Shocked)

Feel better soon, kittykill!
Wow, we're on page 90 of this gallery already!

Spice Girls Tea Towel time!
This one was especially challenging for me because I'm very bad at drawing people. But I really wanted to keep with the Spice Girls theme Smiley Kitten Wrangler on the needlework swap mentioned that embroidery is like "painting with a needle and thread" and I love that because like here, I started with just an ok sketch, and after layers of thread and stitches and tweaking the design as I stitched along, something nice comes out of it Smiley Sorry I should stop talking  Tongue

An here she is... for our very special T3 swap organizer Rectangel... Saffron...

I couldn't find the right color of saffron so I used every orange/yellow/red-ish colors I have. She holds the flower that saffron comes from, and every flower has three stigmas which is the saffron. Saffron is probably the world's most expensive spice by weight because it has to be hand picked at the right time and 150 flowers need to be picked for 1 gram of saffron.

Random detail shots Smiley

(Please disregard the purple lines that haven't disappeared yet! And I have to say, lips are probably the hardest thing I have every attempted to stitch!)

And here's the entire tea towel...

I can't make it to the post office before it closes today, so I'll send it off tomorrow.

This was lots of fun~! I combined several of millik's themes for my contribution to her pillow top Smiley sorry it took a while Smiley I'll try to take some better pictures before I send it off tomorrow.

Don't wake the pirate cat! He's catnapping after a night of splurging on milk and fishies Smiley
Thanks millik for helping me with the LOLcat-speak Smiley
I tried rectangel's blended thread technique for the cat's fur which really makes it come alive - I love it!

Here's the entire thing:

I wanted to add buttons too, but sadly, I don't have any buttons that called out to be added to the towel Sad If anyone on my team has buttons that work for the kitty, please go right ahead Smiley

And random detail shots Smiley

Thank you so much oneredboot! I got the most lovely bag from her over the weekend! She added a sweet note that said she drew inspiration from the bags that I like on my wist and she did wonderfully! It's in my favorite colors, I love the fabrics, and the design is perfect! I don't have the sewing skills to pull off something so lovely myself, and she did fabulously! It's very roomy and exactly the right size and a perfect casual everyday bag for me Smiley Didn't get a chance to snag an action shot yet but here is it! Soooo pretty~~~~

It's quite roomy on the inside, and there's  cute pocket with a pretty pastoral print on the outside (same print as the handles)...

aaaaaand ~ the best part of the pocket ~~~ mushroom print inside the pocket! It's so cute and pretty! I *must* find more of this fabric! Smiley It makes me happy Smiley

She got my style spot on!!
Thank you sooo much oneredboot! I love it!

oneredboot is so fast too!
I'm still finishing up on my claim, scienceissexy's robot, and getting her extras was like a fun lil scavenger hunt for me!

Here's my octopus goodness from sarahswingset!

Everything altogether: pink felt octo pin with a pearl necklace, oceany tote bag with octopus applique, and screenprinted coral pink tee shirt! Everything is so cute!

Close up on the amazing print on the tee. It's the perfect color pink too! How did you make the octo print? It's sooo cool!

Adorable pink octo pin, I *love* the pearl necklace detail!

Cute cute bag with some awesome free hand waves stitched to the top! Wish you could see it in person! Sorry I was too excited and didn't get a chance to iron it yet, it's still fantastic!

And you all had cute action shots so I'll add my own!
Please forgive the horrible lighting  Angry
The shirt fits me purrrfectly, thank you!

Thank you so much Sarah for everything!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I totally agree! -- you are all so incredibly amazing!

Sewsew-a-Gogo's towel is so fun to stitch on! It's light blue so the colors really pop out, I love it!

Here's the corner I claimed~

Here's the entire towel with everyone's lovelies~

Gratuitous detail shots Smiley

I hope you like it, Sewsew!

I finished my lil part of CraftyMcGluestick's apron, inspired by this print in her wist! I just need to tidy up the back and send it out on Monday! And don't worry, the purple lines will disappear! She's on the left side of the apron. Sorry! I'll post better pictures later Smiley

I have finished my towel and will send to dancingboots after work today!

Here is my little something on my tea towel:

The fairy was designed after a lovely painting by Babyangel who modeled it off of a drawing by teddybearbones. It's very small so that there's plenty of room for my group to embroider!
