32  My First Time Playing With Beads in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by claraohara on: January 07, 2010 06:02:46 PM
So this is my first attempt at making pretty things with glass beads. The only beads I have played with before this was many years ago of the big plastic meltable kind.
I think I like these better!

What do you guys think?
Took me a bit of practicing to get the loop bit right but I think they look ok, you don't really see them too much anyway. I might just have to make more to practice!
 Oh darn  Wink

Thanks for looking, any CC or helpful tips would be much appreciated! XD

33  Revamped, Recovered Baby Walker-Skully style! in Completed Projects by claraohara on: January 04, 2010 07:18:35 PM
Hey everyone Grin
Have had this fabric for about 2yrs now! And finally found a use for it Grin

My little girl has become obsessed with standing up and crawling and getting everywhere she shouldn't be. It has been driving me NUTS! No longer can I leave her to play in her room anymore, she would much rather crawl into the study and eat cables and pull our modem out (it is too tempting with those flashing lights!).
Our friend offered us her old walker from when her daughter was little (4yrs ago) so it was old and second hand back then......
Here it is before. Well I had already started but just had to get a photo of the horrible fabric. Sorry for the just as horrible photos, all our batteries have died so I had to use my camera phone.

The clips were all broken, the strap underneath holding the baby up was tied into a knot. I found some sturdy black plastic clips and fixed them up too.

And voila!

It's not quite finished yet, I still want to do some binding on the edge but I have run out.

The little girl loves it!

34  This little guy scared the heck outta me! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by claraohara on: December 31, 2009 12:38:07 AM
This evening I was outside planting some more veges in my little container garden when this little guy jumped out of nowhere!

I managed to snap that pic right before he jumped away to hide behind my tomatoes.

35  Yummy Creamy Potato Bake in Vegetarian / Vegan by claraohara on: December 30, 2009 12:13:16 PM
I kinda like not having much in the way of food in our fridge, it forces me to be creative. Trying to make tasty meals with mostly long life foods which have some kind of nutritional value can be a challenge.
But last night I made the best potato bake. Ever. No really I mean EVER.  Grin
I blabbed all about it on my blog if you want to read, it kinda has a recipe, more of a how I did it.

I will definitely be making this again!
Thanks for looking  Cheesy

36  Tell them where to go! With resin arrow pendants :D in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by claraohara on: December 20, 2009 02:14:44 AM
Hey all Cheesy
So happy I finally pulled out ye olde resin and had a play with my new molds.
Well technically they aren't very new, they have been sitting in their packet taunting me for quite some time! But anyway, less chitter chatter and on to the photos!
(I haven't done any of the finishing like sanding and popping in the eyepins yet)

Go left!

No, go right...

Hey my face is up here buddy....

Oh check out my ample bosom...

I don't know why I like these arrows so much, maybe it's cause you can come up with endless lame jokes or maybe it's cause I like weird things....

Does anyone else like the arrows?

Thanks for looking Cheesy

Oh by the way I just added some more pics  to my blog of these and other resin I finished (including my weird looking egg fridge magnets!)
You can find it here:

37  Do I really have to give these away? They are so yummy! in Winter Holidays by claraohara on: December 19, 2009 03:33:06 AM
Hey all  Grin
I had a minor disaster with one of my other crafty presents so I had to think quick and craft fast!
(My original jube Christmas tree was attacked by ants and destroyed completely. I blame my husband for keeping a huge leg of ham in the fridge (EEEEWWWWW), taking up way too much space)

Anyway as we were up at the supermarket I noticed chocolate on special-woo!!
(I also had a minor freak out cause someone we had bought NOTHING for had told my hubby that she couldn't wait to give us our  present! Eeek!)
So we shopped, too many sweet things, but it was ok, they were for presents.

And then I made these:

Yummy Chocolate Bullet Bark

Chocolate Candy Cane Bark

And then I wrapped them in the cutest (and the only left in the store that didn't say "Congratulations" Or "It's A Boy" on it) tissue paper and popped them in pretty plastic bowls I got for $1.50 each.

I did add some ribbons (green & red of course) but took photos before and what can I say, I am too lazy to go back for more. Cheesy
Speaking of too lazy.... I also made some (HOLY CRAP DELICIOUS!) white chocolate honeycomb bark and it is well.....Holy crap delicious. Grin

I also made these instead of cards...

They are some of my photos I have taken and glued onto cardboard and written little messages on the back.

Hope you guys like!
Thanks for looking  Cheesy

38  Christmas presents I've made so far spending no money in Winter Holidays by claraohara on: December 10, 2009 05:26:26 PM
Hey all  Grin
Since me and the hubby are a bit poor atm I started to search the house for any ideas for presents. I love giving gifts especially this time of the year....So I used some of these household items:
Ground Coffee
Oil (Vegetable and some smelly ones too that my mum gave me a long time ago but you can usually get them at cheapo bargain shops for about $2Aus)
Peppermint leaves (Bought a huge bag when I was pregnant not realizing that after having the baby I would never find time  to make a pot of tea....That and my favourite one tea pot broke Sad )
Thread and sewing machine
Pretty tin which was a gift to us last year with lollies inside
Hot glue (I have a deep, deep love for my glue gun-it's kinda scary)
Glass Jars
Hair clips

Now I see the list it is a bit longer than I thought but still I paid no money for anything and have a few things ready to wrap....
(I'll shush up now and show the pics!)

Energy Body Scrub (coffee, Sugar, Salt & Oil. Coffee is great for minimising those wobbly bits)

Will re do the label and make something pretty in photoshop-was just testing to see size.

For my friend's 5yr old girl

My fave of the two....

The tin they will be given in (yes its an old formula tin)

Pretty tin I decorated and inside is....

Tea for your feet!
I made these tea bags as a foot soak with the peppermint tea leaves-so refreshing!

So what do you guys think? Cheesy

I'm also going  to be making stacks of jubes as Christmas trees, resin coasters, beer bread, brownie stack (as a tree kinda thing) and a whole tonne of sugar cookies as trees and decorating then popping in little bags for people at our church. Still have a lot more things to make but from these all I bought was jubes and they were on special! Yippeeeeee  Cheesy

39  Finally on to the fun stuff-nursery decorating! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by claraohara on: December 02, 2009 02:15:27 PM
One day my brain decided to flicker on....(It has been on a bit of a holiday since I was pregnant last year and even after the birth of my daughter it decided to not come back.)
So randomly  while attempting to clean my crafty space I found some mini canvas' I had bought a while ago and decided to do something completely different to originally planned.
I had so much fun sewing these up, then stapling them down-I love my staple gun but I think I scared the neighbours while I sat on the front verandah making so much noise with a huge grin on my face.
So here they are finallly up on my little girl's door...

And here they are individually..

(Please someone tell me they like the mushroom fabric in the background on this one? I bought a whole heap as  it was on sale and the last of the roll and NO ONE I know likes it. They look at me like I am nuts and it belongs in an old kitchen as curtains....I think it is cool  Sad )

And then I decided to quickly whip up a curtain for her witth some thrifted fabric which cost me 50c and some cute apple fabric I bought 2 metres of and have barely used (Though I LOVE it!)

And just because I can't help myself (Yeah I'm one of those mums that  have thousands of photos of my baby girl!)

Thanks for looking!

40  Re: Gift suggestions from a Crafty new mum - new links pg 2 in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by claraohara on: November 22, 2009 04:07:54 PM
Thanks  Grin
The quilt I started for her is still in the unfinished pile next to the sewing machine...Ooops! Though I have done some decorating crafts for her new room!
These were super easy and cute I even made a set for my friend's baby too.

She is growing up so fast now that she doesn't fit any of the clothes I made her and most days it is too hot for clothes, she just hangs out in her singlet and nappy.

Would love to make her a sleeping sack/grobag as she still likes to be wrapped to sleep and it is getting way too hot to do that and I cant really justify spending over $50 for a sleeping bag!! We  did pick up a cheaper one but it is too short for her   Sad
