31  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Stamped Fabric Bag on: June 08, 2008 06:52:19 PM
So my friend's birthday party was this weekend, and she's a big Jonas Brothers fan (as are many of my friends) and it just so happened that A. I found a speedball stamp making kit in my closet and B. I was lurking on craftster and saw some awesome stamped fabric. I figured that a Jonas Brother logo stamp could be put to many uses with friends like mine. So, with these three events coenciding so well, the Jonas Brother Bag was born....

standard black canvas, hand carved stamp, hand stamped fabric, the pattern for the bag I made up as I went along (very basic, my first squared off tote bag as opposed to the standard tote).

34  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / First Freezer Paper Shirt (HP!) on: January 22, 2008 01:08:47 PM
Hey everyone. So I finally tried out the freezer paper stenciling that I've seen so many times on here. Here's the result!

"Prefects are Hot" is a Wizard Rock song, but it's also just a general Harry Potter reference, although I did have one person think it ment Ford Prefect from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Oh and the white blobs near the bottom are where I dropped the paintbrush. Ooops.
Comments & criticisms welcome!

36  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Jonas Brother Sneakers [img: heavy] on: December 29, 2007 08:43:05 AM
Hey everyone, this is my first time posting anything up here, I've actually been hanging around checking out all the awesome stuff people made and I was inspired to post my own.

So one of my best friends is obsessed with the Jonas Brothers to an unhealthy degree. So obviously when the holidays came around, that was what her present was going to be. I'd been looking on here at all the cool shoes people had made, and then I went to Target and found these cheep ($5) fake converses and I knew what had to be done. So from them, excessive amounts of clean nail polish and glue, and a passion for the Jonas Brothers, these shoes were born.

before(without laces)

all four sides:

Just so you know, I tried to be an equal opportunity crafter, but Nick is her favorite and Kevin is mine, so I think Joe got a little undercut. And sorry about the glare, they're very shiny from all the nail polish.
Also, around the bottoms they say 'Nick Kevin Joe' on one shoe and lyrics from their song 'SOS' on the other. And the laces say JONAS in different colors. I also printed out some text to fill up the empty spaces that were too small for pictures.

And lastly, I added a little shoe charm that's just an extra picture I printed and a guitar pick with a hole punched in it. This is my first time with a project like this and I hope and pray they'll stay together. My friend loved them and swears she's buying a glass display case for them.

Thanks for looking! Feedback would be great!

[EDIT]: As of a recent concert, I added - as sugested by someone on craftster - hot glue around the rubber soles as well as on the corners of any peeling edges and basically anywhere that needed a little extra support. They held up gallantly for a four hour JoBro concert.
37  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Hey, does anyone have any ideas? on: December 03, 2007 03:38:37 PM
hey, this is my first post ever and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I'm doing a secret santa with some of the people at my lunch table and my person is very musically inclined. I went to Joanne's Fabrics and bought about a yard and a half of music note fabric (it looks like sheet music), six music note buttons, and an eighth note patch. I was going to make a tote bag, but that's so boring. If anyone has any ideas on what I can make her, I have some basic sewing skills and am willing to invest some time...thanks!
