1  Buffalo check is the new black in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by MissJames on: December 15, 2008 01:35:50 PM
Buffalo check is the new black.  I hate following trends but sometimes we do it and don't realize it.  It just permeates.  On my mission to make all built by Wendy patterns and fashion a new wardrobe;  I finished this today from Simplicity 3964.  Some of the pattern directions were real screwy, and I had to take it in a lot.  I love it just the same.

2  First finished quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by MissJames on: December 06, 2008 04:41:28 PM
This is the first quilt I've finshed, but definitely not the first I've started.  I can't take all the credit though.  My boyfriend's mom gave him an unfinished quilt top years ago; he's had it at least as long as we've been dating, and I finally put it together.  It's backed with a vintage sheet I scored at Goodwill, tied with some extra cotton yarn I had lying around, and hand basted.  Thanks for looking!

3  Crazy classy fall woolen jacket in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by MissJames on: November 23, 2008 02:54:41 PM
I finished this about a week ago.  It's from a Built By Wendy pattern 4109.  I've seen this pattern getting a bad wrap but I think it's great in the right fabric.  This jacket works well with a long sleeve shirt, dark jeans and heels.  I'm really proud of it and inspired to sew more.  I used bound button holes, and made a neat little tag too!

The jacket:

My tag!

I get lots of compliments on it.  I'm making a matching skirt now and will post when I'm done.  Built by Wendy patterns are the best! I want them all!

4  Embroidered and appliqued postcard. Not so P.C. in Needlework: Completed Projects by MissJames on: June 01, 2008 06:22:02 PM
I didn't know where to put this.  I made this postcard today for a friend who's got a thing for fetuses.

The back tells a little story about the fetus. It says:  Harold was a club kid, just like his mom.  He didn't last long.  But it's okay.  He went to techno fetus heaven where he keeps the beat alive.

I cut a piece of fabric slightly larger than my post card.  Embroidered the words on another piece with a running back stitch, then machine appliqued all the pieces on.  The applique isn't' so hot, but I like the overall effect.  I then used a quilt spray adhesive to attach the postcard to the fabric and stitched around the whole thing with a leather needle.

Kthanxbye!  Hope you like it!

5  Reversible 40's Style Apron, Ready for Thanksgiving! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by MissJames on: November 18, 2007 04:05:27 PM
I needed a new apron for Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday; so I made this!  It's totally reversible, in 40's style fabric. It was actually a lot harder to make than I thought because the pattern didn't call for it to be reversible and with all the bias tape it proved a challenge.

Side B:

Thanks for looking! Happy Thanksgiving!

6  Typewriter Embroideries in Needlework: Completed Projects by MissJames on: November 15, 2007 08:25:38 PM
I made these. And drew them.  I don't know what to do with them now.

And I was going to make a kit out of this.  Seven hours later I felt differently...

7  Bird Flu Cake in Dessert by MissJames on: November 15, 2007 08:22:02 PM
I made this some time ago.  It's what happens when birds poo on yummy chocolate cake and make you sick. It looked better than it tasted.
