1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Help recreating a necklace on: January 19, 2016 03:47:35 PM
I lost my favorite necklace a few nights ago, and I really, really miss it. After failing to find a similar necklace that I could afford, I decided to look into DIYing it. I have a little bit of experience in making jewelry, but I don't know how to make this:

I found a source on etsy for the chain, but I don't know how to finish the chain...as in, I don't know what to put on the edges/tips so that it won't scratch me all up. Any help is appreciated!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / how can I repurpose a single chandelier earring? on: August 20, 2013 12:51:21 AM
I was just given a box of my grandmother's old costume jewelry and there is a pretty chandelier earring that's lost its pair. I really don't want to toss it because it's gold... It's fairly small, too small to be a pendant, and my creative juices could use a boost! How can I repurpose it?
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Teesha Moore inspired patch wall hanging (LOTS of pics!) on: August 19, 2013 11:39:55 PM
Once you start making Teesha Moore patches, you get hooked! So, when my partner, MissCrafty29, mentioned that she would like a wall hanging and that she liked patches, I knew what to do Smiley I made this eco/vegan themed patch wall hanging and had a blast.

One of my favorite patches was the "mushroom" patch because all the stitching around the mushrooms gave it a sort of 3-D effect:

Some more patches:

I hand dyed/painted the fabric for these patches:

Annnnnd the "Earth" patch:

I was so in love with this wall hanging that a tiny part of me wanted to keep it, lol. Guess I better hurry up and finish my next patch project!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / help me pick out the perfect fabric on: July 27, 2013 01:42:23 AM
For a while, I've been itching to make myself a flowy, boho maxi dress...something to twirl in or to throw on when it's blistering hot outside. The problem I've been having, though, is finding a suitable fabric. I want something 100% cotton, on the thin side, with a nice drape. (Something like this, for example:http://www.freepeople.com/clothes-dresses/open-shoulder-maxi-dress-27535491/)

Thanks for your input!

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I made a dress! on: June 15, 2013 08:54:11 PM
It's been a long time since I've posted anything here. Rest assured, though, I haven't stopped sewing. I recently participated in a de-stash swap (Fill A Box Lucky 13), and I got some lovely fabric from underthemountain.

When I saw this blue bird/flower fabric, I must admit, I was instantly in love... I knew it would make an adorable garden dress. The, when I saw this dress I just knew I had to do a similar neckline. I wasn't sure if I had enough fabric to make the top, so I went ahead and made the dress...

After I finished, I had -just- enough fabric for a little shrug.

Please excuse the weird/awkward posing. My boyfriend was making me laugh.

9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Where to buy older sewing machine feet? on: June 18, 2012 11:58:52 AM
I recently acquired an old (1970s, I think) Brother sewing machine that had belonged to my great-grandmother. It only have the one standard foot, making it difficult to sew zippers. I want to buy a zipper foot for it, but I have no idea where to find any that will fit the machine.

Any help is appreciated!
10  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / :( My glitter is peeling off of my shoes!! on: March 08, 2012 08:44:42 PM
So, I've seen all the "glitter your shoes" tutorials floating around pinterest, and I had a pair of leatherette wedges that I never wore (due to damage)... One thing led to another... I sanded, mod-podged, glittered, and sealed, but the very first time I wore them, the glitter peeled off in chunks right by wear the shoe bends when you step. So, I re-sanded, re-glittered...You get the idea.

Still, though, the glitter is peeling off!

Any advice?
