1  Smaller Purse...Help! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by jktormala on: June 20, 2008 06:41:40 PM
So I'm in a little bit of trouble.  Stuck trying to design a bag, can't find a tutorial and have had a few failed attempts.

Pretty much I want to make a small bag with a single wide handle with a zipper.  I have one in courdory (I think) and I love it and I'm trying to make another one out of black canvas.  Here is a picture of one that they are similar too (but this one doesn't have a zipper)  - - any suggestions on the pattern?  Probably just a tote with 4 smaller pieces.  I guess my trouble is trying to get it to fit with the zipper...  Since I'm a tote girl, this is new!

2  New Birthday Cake! in Dessert by jktormala on: May 31, 2008 08:53:43 AM
I'm not by any means a cake decorator...but I have made two cakes now with fondant and it's fun to play/work with.  Especially since I don't like cake...haha!  But here they are:

Well...only one, since I lost the other one somewhere...maybe I'll find it and post it!

3  Easy Brown Canvas Tote (Based on AE) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by jktormala on: April 10, 2008 01:19:20 PM
So, it's been a while since I made a bag for myself.  I saw this bag on AE and thought, I like it, but didn't need it to be changing from one type of bag to another (I wouldn't mind trying to make it though.)  And I also like a more boxy or square purse rather than unformed...but you'll see Smiley haha

My sewing machine wasn't being cooperative so I just left it as is for the pictures (inside picture will show what I mean...)  But I have since re-sewn the top Smiley  The flash also made it look lighter, it's darker brown canvas!  Here she be:

Outside with a lil pocket for my cell phone:

Inside with cute camo fabric (love da hubby - in the army):

If anyone wants, I can make a lil tutorial, since I plan on making another bag like it.  Just let me know!

Also, if anyone knows how to resize these so I can make the pictures a bit smaller, please let me know! haha

4  Re: Loved One in the Military Swap Round 2 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by jktormala on: April 05, 2008 05:10:45 PM
YaY!  I got my stuff from Haylie (who volunteered to be my swap angel since my original partner flaked..) and I am so PUMPED about the stuff she sent me!!   I ended up crying when i opened the box...especially when I saw the willow tree  woman.  It's been a rough month of training (with about a week of no cell phone usage), and my husband just got back on Thursday, so this was an extra pick-me-up!  He's deploying in June so it's been tough all-around.

Here are the pictures:

A keepsake box with scented soaps inside:

A mini scrapbook: (which I still don't get how she got together)

A really cool etched "Army Wife" glass:

A really awesome evening purse w/ a yellow ribbon:

And I'm super glad she sent, even though she didn't craft it... hehe  A willow tree figurine...I absolutely love it, and I've never even heard of them before...now I must check it out:

Thanks so much Haylie for both organizing this swap...I made something extra for her since she was my swap angel and I'll be sending it out Monday!!

Just wanted to show you all the before & after pictures of one of the picture frames.  I was walking around Hobby Lobby looking for CHEAP fun stuff to play with for crafts!  And I found one!  I was so excited...these picture frames were like 90% off and was only a couple dollars...so I figured I'd get it.  They were kind of ugly, but cool to paint and I figured I'd send one to my swap partner Smiley

Hope everyone is doing well! Smiley

7  Re: Dish towels - easy as 1-2-3 (now with tutorial) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by jktormala on: November 08, 2007 09:26:50 PM
I saw these and thought, cool!  I'm going to make some - I didn't even notice the tutorial (perhaps it wasn't there when I looked) but I wanted to share mine that were inspired by yours Smiley

Mine are a bit longer, that you can fold over the stove handles etc...

8  Re: Need help finding pattern/tutorial in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by jktormala on: November 06, 2007 07:55:26 PM
Well, I see that there are already links to tutorials (didn't read pages 2 & 3 til now) so I'll post this anyway.  I guess maybe it'll help someone learn how to dissect a piece and learn to make a pattern Smiley
