11  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: advice needed about airplanes + crochet on: October 28, 2007 08:01:20 AM
I'm in Japan right now -- and I can say I can't imagine the 14+ hours on the plane without my crocheting! I always find the US side of things is a bit more picky than the Japan side. I use fingernail clippers to cut my yarn (I usually carry a pair in my purse, the ones without the little file that flips out). I did purchase some plastic hooks for travel, too. I didn't notice the slightest difference. I prefer Susan Bates hooks and both my plastic and metal hooks are the same brand.

I find it simpler to use double-crochet with thick-n-thin yarns -- it's easier for me to find where to put my hook.

I really like the patterns at lionbrand.com. You do have to register to get at them, but they have some great patterns.

The cupcake blouse is beautiful. I have squirrelled away some microspun and have been itching to put it to use, but I want the "right" project. Your blouse inspires me to get moving!

I, too, wonder how long this took you. It's beautiful. I am currently waiting on a new book with filet crochet patterns to arrive -- now I'm a bit intimidated.

Very elegant. I love the look, too, but I haven't yet made any serious attempts at including beads in my crocheting.
