2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Giant Tentacle O'Whimsies on: March 11, 2010 02:48:16 PM
I was partnered with TheSapphireMoon for the Jar of Whimsies Round 7 swap.  For her "jar", I made her a giant drawstring tentacle.  Once she has pillaged it for her whimsies, she can use it either for storage or fill it full of fluff and use the suction cup suckers to attach it to a window.  That way, it'll look like a kraken's trying to escape out her window.  Here's her tentacle full o'whimsies right before I boxed it up.

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / More jewelry and stuff on: March 11, 2010 12:45:11 PM
Some of this was for a swap partner.  Some of this was a get well gift for someone.

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Still learning to make jewelry on: March 08, 2010 02:58:54 PM
My swap partner has received, so I can post, now.  I made pinokeeo some jewelry for the March Odd Holidays swap.  The green and white beaded pendant and the orange, green, and white button pin are for Irish American Heritage.  And, the blue dragonflies earrings and pendant set, blue celestial earrings and pendant set, blue beads pin, and celestial necklace are for National Craft Month.  She got her package today and seems pleased.  I hope she likes her pretties!

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / 1 item - Old school dead actor swap on: March 06, 2010 02:57:42 PM
Cary Grant?  Bette Davis?  Marilyn Monroe?  Clark Gable?  For me, Claude Rains was the man!  Is anyone up for an affordable, one item (y'all want small or medium?) swap based on each of our favorite old school dead actors?  A bit of old time Hollywood glamour!

The point to this swap would be for everyone to get a nice, well crafted treat in an affordable, nonburdonsome swap.  Craft well.  Craft beautifully.  Send parcel post to save money on postage.  No spoiling.  A clean, simple, low angst swap.

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / DNA inspired double helix scarf on: February 23, 2010 02:35:00 PM
I was partnered with the supersweet TeaCouture for the February Monthly Odd Holidays Swap.  One of the occasions she wanted to celebrate was the anniversary of the discovery of DNA back in 1953.  I made her a double helix scarf to mark the occasion.

The pictures I took before sending ended up being really crappy.  So, TeaCouture was nice enough to send me the files of the good pics she got upon receiving so I could post the scarf to this board.  Thanks, TC!

When I designed the pattern, I thought, "This'll be easy.  I can do this in one night while watching a movie."  After all, the swap was supposed to be smalls.  Well, not so much.  This "simple" pattern I came up with took a long, aggravating time to execute.  Total headache!  I do not like crocheting long spirals (which is weird because I do short spirals for octopus tentacles frequently).  I finally finished and got the spiral all twisted correctly throughout.  My dear partner seems happy with it and has put it to use as she tends to be cold natured so I am happy that she is happy.  Smiley

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / enjoying learning to make earrings on: February 20, 2010 10:56:16 AM
I made my first pair of earrings a while back for the sealife swap.  Since then, I've kept trying my hand at it.  I am so becoming a bead addict!  Tero, frogangel, and edelC exponentially increased my bead stash in their lovely Christmas boxes so I have been getting more heavily into jewelry making.  Love it!

Here are some earrings I have made lately.  Some are for myself.  Some were for gifts.

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Frugality stash buster on: February 18, 2010 03:53:01 PM

I have been THOROUGHLY enjoying the frugality swap (y'all pay attention for when round 2 comes along!) and the Frugalong on the craftalong boards.  As part of my box to lydiaharper, I made a large item (something I hardly ever do) in colors that she prefers.

It is an afghan, all stash.  I have the wonderful, fabulous Tero and frogangel to thank for about 70% of this yarn because of their Christmastime swap box generosity.  So, dear ones, see -- now Lydia will be wrapped in your warm, snuggly love, too!  Grin

This is my 3rd afghan ever.  They are such time suckers, aren't they?!?!

9  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Ghost Hunters/TAPS/GHI/GHA swap (sendouts 3/31) on: February 14, 2010 08:11:18 PM
Can you walk in front of this box and make the lights light up?  Can you knock 3 times like this?  *knock...knock...knock*

Jason, Grant, Steve, or Tango?  Wink  Or, for you guys out there, Kris or Amy?  Wink

This swap is for fans of Ghost Hunters (TAPS), Ghost Hunters International, and/or Ghost Hunters Academy.  This is a 4 point swap, and 1 item must be at least a medium or a large.

Spoiling is allowed but must be agreed upon between partners.  However, only expect to receive swap requirements.  Some people get nervous about the whole  "spoiling" thing.  Don't be.  It's not required or expected, and noone should feel bad about spoiling or lack thereof.  Just meet the swap requirements, and it's all good.

There's a long crafting time so please make high quality items with great care.  Let's try our hardest to make this a swap with no duds and no flakers! Smiley

Communication between partners is critical.  Perhaps you want GH specific items, or maybe you just want paranormal items in general.  Maybe you like one of the shows but despise another.  Be very specific with your partner.

This swap has communication requirements:  You must post in the main thread at least once a week.  You must PM with your partner at least once a week.  If you will be out of town or in some other way not have computer access for a week or more, you must notify both the organizer and your partner in advance.  Not meeting the swap's communication requirements will be noted in feedback.  Please, no disappearing acts!

NOTE:  Due to the fact that many of us have been affected quite badly by economic conditions, not many folks can ship internationally these days.  I'm not restricting this swap to be US only, but I will warn y'all in advance that there may be problems with international partnering.  Sorry.  Just be forewarned.

Let's have a lot of fun with this swap!!! Grin

10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / new winter hat for my son on: January 13, 2010 05:07:12 PM
My son needed a new winter hat, and I made this one for him out of some very thick yarn I had leftover from other projects.  He is happy with it.  His first day using it, he thanked me twice. Smiley
