3  Spray Paint Portrait in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by SHES.CRAFTY on: February 07, 2008 01:22:21 PM
I wanted to paint a portrait for my boyfriend as a present.  We had just recently gone to an art gallery and he found some really cool paintings he liked that looked like graffiti.  So I decided to do it in that style.

I made a stencil in Photoshop out of a picture I had of him. Placed it in Illustrator, made it a vector image and tweaked some of the points, printed it out on Valeron Strength Polyolefin Film (it's like vinyl), cut it out and spray painted it on the canvas.  For the background I used light blue spray paint and silver acrylic paint.  I mixed it all up on a paper plate and used a foam brush to brush it on.  It's not perfect, but I like it.

In the left corner is his name, Julian.  The style of the lettering is an ambigram.  That means it's a graphical figure that spells out a word not only in its form as presented, but also in another direction or orientation.

Here's the original photo I worked from:

4  Spring Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by SHES.CRAFTY on: February 07, 2008 12:56:26 PM
This is my first purse I've ever made. It was really fun to make and pick out the fabrics. I was worried at first that my stuff would fall out without a zipper or flap over the opening, but so far so good.

5  I call it Fun-fetti! in Crochet: Completed Projects by SHES.CRAFTY on: February 07, 2008 12:50:43 PM
I made this scarf a little while ago.  It's so soft and I love the colors. I used Yarn Bee Fleece Light color Fiesta and Yarn Bee Playful color Sunflash.

What do you guys think?

7  Paint Can Xmas Cookie Tins in Winter Holidays by SHES.CRAFTY on: January 01, 2008 07:06:12 PM
I wanted to give cookies as gifts this Christmas, but I wanted to package them in a creative way. So I got paint can like tins from the Container Store and designed my own labels to wrap around them and for the lid.

I designed it all in Illustrator.  The little people are my boyfriend and me.

(sorry it's a little blurry)

8  Anchor skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by SHES.CRAFTY on: November 08, 2007 07:15:00 PM
I just finished my first circle skirt! It was pretty easy up until I got to putting in the waist band. I had the hardest time trying to figure out the right way to do it. Does anyone have any good advise I could use for the next time I make another skirt?
I used the tutorial from april_cocaine.

*Pardon my ashy knees.

9  Hello Kitty & R2-D2 in Halloween Decor and Parties by SHES.CRAFTY on: October 29, 2007 05:58:47 PM
My boyfriend and I carved pumpkins this year.  I think they came out pretty good for doing it freehand.
