71  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / ay yi yi. I couldn't stop. hat and wrist warmers on: October 31, 2007 07:26:38 AM
yes, i joined the bandwagon. ... i found clearanced yarn at walmart and started the hat... then ran out of it on the first wrist warmer and made DBF run me by wallyworld to grab the very last skein... it's so comfy! Bernat Black Lites in cherry freeze, i think... multi strand and the red is actually a white to pink to magenta blend... it's my second project ever and i could not put it down. Now i feel sure enough to start a hat for my son and DBF to wear out in public!

wrist warmer:

i found patterns online and tweaked them a little bit... and i'm wearing the hat inside out because i like the 'wrong' side of the hat better than the 'right'... lol.

thanks for looking! now i'm hoping to start on either a (formal) table cloth for my dinner table or an outfit for the new baby on the way... OR the hats for DBF and my son.... LOL... hmmm. decisions decisions....
72  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / beginner... would this project be a little *too* adventurous for me? on: October 31, 2007 07:19:11 AM
I just started crocheting and thanks to nexstitch.com i've been able to really get the hang of alot of the stitches out there... my only issue is reading patterns. So i've kind of been winging alot of the stuff im doing instead of following the pattern to a T...

anyway. I want to make a table cloth for my table. A big project, but i'm  getting antsy to work on something other than hats and wrist warmers and scarves...

So i was thinking of doing a shell stitch in the round, but would that work laying flat? i was hoping to find some really nice lacey yarn with metallic accent to compliment the hardware in our kitchen.. but i haven't found a pattern for it and really have no idea how it would turn out.... Ami trying ot bite off more than i can chew at this point? yikes! i don't know where to start to research it, really... any advice would be welcomed....
73  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / newbie- can i share? (pic) on: October 29, 2007 12:38:27 PM
Hi! I just joined craftster and have been lurking on the crochet boards for awhile... I checked out the FAQ's since i've been trying to teach myself to crochet but didn't wanna make an ass of myself and ask "can you tell me how to do this?" for probably the umpteenmillionth time on this board... LOL. So i've finally made my first real, wearable item and it's a hat for my DBF's niece, modeled by my son (whose head is too big for it but he's all i had handy at the moment... LOL). I was so excited i just had to share, so don't mind me at all!!

it's got a point and tassle on either side of the head.. he hates wearing hats and i had to struggle to get a quick picture of him in it to show how it fits. LOL.
