21  Giant Granny Square Afghan in Crochet: Completed Projects by mamaedgar on: February 28, 2010 08:58:46 PM
I made this afghan for a friend of mine!  Since I was planning on starting it around the olympics, I decided to enter it in the 2010 Ravelympics.  I was happy to actually complete it in time!  I think it turned out great.  I did a simple granny square using super bulky sheep's yarn on a 10mm hook.  In total there are 25 squares and a single crochet stitch around the perimeter.  It's very heavy, but super soft!

More about the project on ravelry!

22  Baby Jingles Ball - lots of photos in Crochet: Completed Projects by mamaedgar on: February 21, 2010 08:20:22 PM
I recently bought some amazing 100% natural sheeps wool yarn and fell in love with it!  I decided to make a blanket for my husband as the wool is super bulky and he loves thick, heavy blankets.  The project was taking too long and I get bored, so I started making these plush balls for my sons.  I've made several styles and sizes, and they are so much fun!  I put a few jingle bells inside.  I have even had a few requests from friends for some.  The yarn is not dyed, the color of the yarn is the color of the sheep, so they are very safe!  The boys love to toss them around the house, especially as we don't get outside as much this time of year!  Hope you like them!

23  Cute Little Doll in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by mamaedgar on: January 30, 2010 05:16:10 PM
I made this doll recently from the pattern found here:

I changed the dress a bit, but otherwise pretty well followed the pattern. I really enjoyed making this little doll, it's been a long time since I've posted here, and even longer since I created any little critter/doll!  Hope you enjoy it!

I do have to say the hair took FOREVER!  i made it very dense so her scalp didn't show through!

24  Max Costume!!! in Halloween Costumes by mamaedgar on: October 19, 2009 09:24:16 PM
This is the costume I've been working on for my three year old son.  He is going to be King Max, but I haven't finished the crown yet!  I just had to share my cute little guy(s) and their costumes for this coming Halloween.  I used Butterick 3238 as a guide.  The wiskers are thin leather cord.  My son just loves the costume.  He wishes he could wear it everyday!

25  Snack Pack with Link to Instructions in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by mamaedgar on: August 05, 2009 08:57:07 PM
I got sick of using ziplock bags in my son's lunches, so I set out to make some simple snack packs.  I read the velcro closures aren't the best as they collect crumbs, so I came up with this little design.  It worked out quite well and it doubles as a bowl, so snacks don't spill as much.  I'v even used it as a water dish for my dog after a long walk.  The liner is oil cloth and the outer is random scraps I had.  I posted a full pattern on my blog in PDF format, but I will explain best I can here.

Basically you make a square with four tabs on it that will form the sides.  You sew the tabs up to form the corners.  Do this for the liner and outer fabrics.  Then you sew a loop of elastic between the two layers and with right sides facing, sew liner and outer together.  Leave a gap so you can turn the box right side out.  After turning it right side out, sew a button to the bottom of the box and sew up the gap.  You're done!  Don't forget to push in the sides as you are folding the front and back of the box together in order to form the flat envelope!  There s a full PDF pattern that you can download here:

C&C welcome!

26  Tattoo Leopard Kimono Shoes! in Shoes: Completed Projects by mamaedgar on: June 21, 2009 03:04:40 PM
I decided to make myself some house shoes with leftover fabic I had.  I used the kimono shoe pattern from i thinksew.com!  It was great and easy to work quickly!   For the upers I used alexander henry's tattoo fabric.  I lined the shoes with fuzzy leopard print.

Since I am on my feet all day either bouncy baby around, or chasing toddler, I encased a Dr. Sholl's gel insole with leopard fabric for a bit more support.  This made them SO comfy!  Usually I am a size 7 1/2 so I chose the size 8 from the pattern, but due to the bulkiness of the gel insole, they are a bit tight and the heel slips a bit.  I remedied that with a little elastic loop, which i think looks rather cute!  Next pair I make with be a bit biggers size ..... and I may use suede as the sole, so I can quickly run outside if need be!  Let me know what you think!
