1  Re: Newbie Swap round 15 gallery! in The Swap Gallery by KittyWampus on: February 22, 2011 12:50:01 PM
Leslieshappyheart is freaking amazing!!!! The 3 things she sent: a knitting project bag, a pretty useful pouch, and stitch markers (and she included an awesome extra as wrapping Smiley feeding my hockey addiction) I feel like I need to remake everything I'm sending out....

I was more than a little excited when I got my package and couldn't wait to open it RIGHT NOW! (so forgive the office background please) And I have only 1 thing to say: How awesome is everything?!?!

Great yarn bag, will definitely be using this! (just commented on a different thread about wanting one)
Had to show off her mad sewing skillz, the pic doesn't quite do justice but that zipper pocket is on there beautifully.

On my intro list I said I liked octopuses and I have to say, in LOVE with this little guy! Such a cute bag and the zipper pull says "handmade with love" Smiley
The stitch markers, there is simply no way NOT to be excited about ANGRY BIRDS!
These little clay birds are incredible!

I officially giggled in public while opening the box, the other girls in the office came over to ask if I was all right because that just doesn't happen. I hope everyone else's packages are as fun to receive as this one was!

Maybe it's because kitties are so darned helpfull with the projects. If we survive their craft room bombardments we can do anything Smiley

3  Ambitious Parrot in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by KittyWampus on: March 26, 2008 09:06:17 AM

Let's start by admitting that I know this was an over-ambitious project. I'm not so sure that it really looks like a parrot in any identifiable way, the intentions and drawing were easier Smiley and it seems to have all gotten away from me...but it was fun and he loves it which was the goal of this exercise. Suggestions on how I could have improved this are always welcome.

The red fabric is recycled! WOOHOO! I found red fleece ponchos at a sample store near my work, this outfit used 3 of them, one of the things I didn't take into account was that the fabric was so stretchy and a little heavy.
The blue and yellow are polyester, and the orange is a fake terry cloth feeling thing, and green is from a stiff cotton pillow case...pretty much everything was $1.
As you can see I've been lazy, and only attempted to really "feather" the back and hood, as a result the cape is much heavier than the rest of it. When I tried it on him (when done already) what USED to line up as shoulders stretched and fell on the back of his arm. OY. Tried to pull it forward but adding some front weight and another line of stitching on the shoulder to help prevent the feathers from flipping over didn't really seem to help.

Some in process building pics:

We made our sample on GI Joe in felt, that was great, boy (5) even sewed the hood on by himself.

4  The driving forces in my life in CHALLENGE 22 ENTRIES by KittyWampus on: November 05, 2007 07:48:30 AM
Well, not really, ok, the coffee has much more dominance...

This is my first posting/project/etc. I didn't finish the 2nd one yet, where do those spare moments go?  I will post it even if I don't finish by tonight, but I just wanted to put something up here. This was a really fun project, thanks Craftsters for making me do something creative for myself!
The original artwork for the first pillow is from the painting "Exhilaration" from Angel Sarkela-Saur. Because this is my first posting, it seems I am not allowed to post the pics dirrectly, sooo:
1st pillow=

Tell me if anyone wants a closer pic.
The second pillow is defiantly a work in progress. I am hoping to finish tonight, but so much depends on if I get a seat on the train (that's when I do most of this) and if anyone puts up a fight instead of taking their bath (the other time I get the most done). The design is a spilling martini glass, as you can see from the pic, its a work in progress, but you can see where it is going by the pink pencil marks. Going to give it the same tumbling drops, with a relaxing man instead of jumping for the end. The pillow cases are the same color in real life, just WAYYY different lighting between the pics. Will do pics together when done.
2nd Pillow =

I am considering putting text on them, let me know what you think, and YES, I KNOW they need to be ironed. Smiley
